Disputed status of the isthmus between Gibraltar and Spain
The Gibraltar territory currently contains an 800-metre long section of the isthmus that links the Rock with mainland Spain. Spain does not acknowledge British sovereignty over Gibraltar beyond the fortified perimeter of the town as at 1704. The United Kingdom claims the southern part of the isthmus on the basis of continuous possession over a long period.
Thirteenth Siege of Gibraltar (1727)
The Siege of Gibraltar of 1727 saw Spanish forces besiege the British garrison of Gibraltar as part of the Anglo-Spanish War. Depending on the sources, Spanish troops numbered between 12,000 and 25,000. British defenders were 1,500 at the beginning of the siege, increasing up to about 5,000. After a five-month siege with several unsuccessful and costly assaults, Spanish troops gave up and withdrew.
Gibraltar–Spain border
The Gibraltar-Spain border is the international boundary between the British Overseas Territory of Gibraltar and Spain. It is also referred to as Spanish: La frontera de Gibraltar (The frontier of Gibraltar) or simply as The Frontier. The border runs east-west for a total of 1.2 kilometres separating Gibraltar from the neighbouring Spanish municipality of La Línea de la Concepción.

It is located at the Plaza de Europa and is 300 metres from the border with the British Overseas Territory of Gibraltar.

The Tenth Siege of Gibraltar in 1506 was a minor military action in which the Duke of Medina Sidonia, Juan Alfonso Pérez de Guzmán tried but failed to recover the fortress of Gibraltar from the troops who were holding it in the name of the newly united crowns of Castile and Aragon.

The Seventh Siege of Gibraltar was an unsuccessful attempt by the Castillian nobleman Enrique Pérez de Guzmán, 2nd Count de Niebla to capture the stronghold of Gibraltar from the Moors. He drowned during the attempt.

The Eighth Siege of Gibraltar (1462) was a successful effort by soldiers of the Kingdom of Castile to take the fortified town of Gibraltar from the Moors of the Emirate of Granada. Capture of this position, which was weakly defended and was taken with little fighting, was strategically important in the final defeat of the Moors in Spain.
Playa de La Atunara
Playa de La Atunara is a beach in the municipality of La Línea de la Concepción, in the Province of Cádiz, Andalusia, Spain. It has a length of about 1.5 kilometres and average width of about 90 metres . It is a busy beach and bordered on the south by the Playa de Levante and north by the Playa de Torrenueva. In its vicinity are the remains of the Tunara battery. It has a seafront promenade of restaurants, known for their pescaitos and clams.
