Cape Flats
The Cape Flats (Afrikaans: Die Kaapse Vlakte) is an expansive, low-lying, flat area situated to the southeast of the central business district of Cape Town. To many people in Cape Town, the area is known simply as 'The Flats'. Described by some as 'apartheid's dumping ground', from the 1950s the area became home to people the apartheid government designated as non-White.

Helderberg College
Helderberg College is a private higher education institution situated in Somerset West, South Africa, about thirty minutes from Cape Town. It was established in 1893 - the first Seventh-day Adventist College established outside of North America under the name "Union College". It moved to its present location in 1928, making it the oldest Adventist college on the continent of Africa. Hottentots Holland High School
Hottentots Holland High School is an Afrikaans- and English-speaking school in the Western Cape in South Africa, situated between the towns of Somerset West and Strand. The parallel-medium, co-educational school, situated to the west of the N2 national road, was opened by Dr G. G. Cillie, Chairman of the School Board, in February, 1930. Danie Craven Stadium
Danie Craven Stadium is a multi-purpose stadium at Coetzenburg in Stellenbosch, South Africa. It is part of the Stellenbosch University's sport facilities. The stadium was named after rugby doyen and Springbok scrum half Danie Craven. The stadium holds 16,000 people and was built in 1979. The Danie Craven Stadium is currently used mostly for rugby matches.

Paul Roos Gymnasium
Paul Roos Gymnasium is a government school for boys in the town of Stellenbosch, Western Cape, South Africa, founded in 1866 as Stellenbosch Gymnasium. The school was renamed three times, Stellenbosch Boys High, Victoria College after the Queen and at present Paul Roos Gymnasium. In 1940, it was renamed after Paul Roos, a former captain of the Springbok rugby union team. Roos was a former pupil and teacher at Paul Roos Gymnasium, and was the school's rector from 1910 to 1940.

The Western Cape Education Department categorizes it as the only purely Xhosa-speaking secondary school in the region. As of 2006 the school had some 1,493 students.
Faure level crossing accident
The Faure level crossing accident occurred at approximately 8 a.m. on 13 November 2006 when a Metrorail train collided with a truck that had stalled on an uncontrolled level crossing at Faure near Somerset West, a town outside Cape Town, South Africa. The truck was carrying at least thirty-three workers from a local vineyard and there were nineteen fatalities (eleven men and eight women) and six injured people among the occupants of the vehicle.
Baphumelele Children's Home
Baphumelele Children's Home was founded in 2001 as a refuge and place of safety for orphaned and other vulnerable children from the Cape Flats. The home is one of the first in the township of Khayelitsha, one of the largest in South Africa. The founder of Baphumelele, Rosie Mashale, is a trained primary school teacher. She has been selected as a Mama Afrika by Clover. She has also been selected as a finalist in the Cape Times V&A Waterfront Woman of Worth Awards.

Rhenish Girls' High School is a boarding school for girls in Stellenbosch in the province of Western Cape in South Africa. It was founded in 1860, thus making it the oldest girls' school in South Africa.
False Bay High School
False Bay High School is a private school in the Strand of the Western Cape province of South Africa, founded by Herman and Lisa Janse van Rensburg in January 1999. It was originally established in Somerset West but later moved to its current permanent location in the Strand.

Blackheath train accident
The Blackheath train accident occurred at 7:03 a.m. on 25 August 2010 when a Metrorail commuter train crashed into a minibus taxi on the Buttskop Road level crossing in Blackheath, a suburb of Cape Town, South Africa. The minibus was carrying fourteen children to school; nine died on the scene and five were hospitalized. One of the injured children died two days later in the Red Cross War Memorial Children's Hospital.
Spier Wine Farm
Spier is a wine farm situated in the Stellenbosch region approximately 50 km from Cape Town, South Africa. The farm has enjoyed a long history which dates back to 1692 when the first free burghers trekked from the Cape colony to establish farms in this region. As one of the oldest farms in the region, it has long been noted for its cultural and historical significance particularly of its architecture. The farm buildings bear twenty one Cape Dutch Gables, more than any other farm in the area.
