Vrba, Žirovnica
Vrba is one of ten villages in the Municipality of Žirovnica in the Upper Carniolan region of Slovenia. It was first mentioned in written sources from 1247 and is a typical example of a compact Alpine village. According to the 2002 census, it has a population of 196. The Slovene national poet France Prešeren, who was born in the village, dedicated it the sonnet "O Vrba", the first of his Sonnets of Misfortune.
Zabreznica
Zabreznica is one of ten villages in the Municipality of Žirovnica in the Upper Carniola region of Slovenia. It is the location of Žirovnica Primary School, which serves the primary education needs of all the villages in the municipality. Above the village, on the Reber Ridge, the church of St. Lawrence was rebuilt in the 1990s on the foundations of a Romanesque church that was demolished in 1821. It is decorated with work by the contemporary Slovene artists France Bernik and Andrej Jemec.
Ajdna
Ajdna (1064 m) is a peak in the Karavanke in the Municipality of Žirovnica in the Upper Carniola region of Slovenia. Access to it is easiest from the village of Potoki in the neighbouring Jesenice municipality. A settlement from late Antiquity has been found just below the summit and evidence shows that it was probably inhabited much earlier. Excavations began in 1976.
Finžgar House
The Finžgar House is a house in the village of Doslovče in the Municipality of Žirovnica in Slovenia. It is the house where the Slovene writer Fran Saleški Finžgar was born in 1871. Administratively, it is part of the Upper Carniola Museum from Kranj. As well as a museum about the writer, it is a museum of rural architecture and life in the Upper Carniola during the late 19th century.
Sts. Ingenuin and Albuin Church
Sts. Ingenuin and Albuin Church (Slovene: Cerkev sv. Ingenuina in sv. Albuina) is a Catholic church located in the village of Koroška Bela, in the municipality of Jesenice in northwestern Slovenia. The church is dedicated to St. Ingenuin and St. Albuin, bishops of Säben Abbey from the 6th and 10th centuries respectively.
Pristava House
The Pristava House is a manor house in the foothills of the Karawanks Alpine range in the Municipality of Jesenice in northern Slovenia. It is located at an elevation of 975 metres, above the settlement of Javorniški Rovt. It is a popular excursion point. The house was built in 1641 or 1647 as a mountain chalet for the local ironworks-owning lower nobility and has recently been renovated.
Javornik Falls
Javornik Falls is a series of three waterfalls near the settlement of Javorniški Rovt, part of the municipality of Jesenice in northern Slovenia. The individually unnamed falls occur in the upper course of Javornik Creek, at an elevation of approximately 950 m in the foothills of the Karawanks. They vary from 5 to 10 m in height, and are accessible to hikers from the Gajšek Trail leading from the Kres recreation area above the village of Koroška Bela to the Pristava Lodge.
