Ural Federal District
Ural Federal District (Russian: Ура́льский федера́льный о́круг, Uralsky federalny okrug) is one of the eight federal districts of Russia. Its population was 12,080,523 (79.9% urban) according to the 2010 Census. The district was established on May 13, 2000 by a decree of the President of Russia. The district is mostly located in the Ural geographical region, but also includes minor parts of the Volga Region.
Ural State Technical University
Ural State Technical University (USTU) is a higher education institute in Yekaterinburg, Sverdlovsk Oblast, Russian Federation. It is the biggest technical institution of higher education in Russia, with close ties to local industry in the Urals. Its motto, Ingenium Creatio Labor, means "brilliance creates work".
Ipatiev House
Ipatiev House was a merchant's house in Yekaterinburg where the former Emperor Nicholas II of Russia, his family and members of his household were executed following the Bolshevik Revolution. Its name is identical with that of the Ipatiev Monastery in Kostroma, from where the Romanovs came to the throne.
Sverdlovsk anthrax leak
The Sverdlovsk anthrax leak was an incident in which spores of anthrax were accidentally released from a military facility in the city of Sverdlovsk (formerly, and now again, Yekaterinburg) 1450 km east of Moscow on April 2, 1979. This accident is sometimes called "biological Chernobyl". The ensuing outbreak of the disease resulted in approximately 100 deaths, although the exact number of victims remains unknown.
Ural State University
The Ural State University (Russian: Урáльский госудáрственный университéт и́мени А. М. Гóрького, Urál'skiy gosudárstvennyy universitét ímeni A. M. Gór'kogo, often shortened to USU, УрГУ) is located in the city of Yekaterinburg, Sverdlovsk Oblast, Russian Federation. Founded in 1920, it was an exclusive educational establishment made of several institutes (educational and scientific divisions) which later became independent universities and schools.
Lenina Avenue, Yekaterinburg
Lenina Avenue is a main street of Yekaterinburg, Russia. It starts at Moskovskaya Street to the west, and ends at Kirov Square to the east. The street is one of the busiest in Yekaterinburg and is a major shopping area. The street is named after Vladimir Lenin. Among the buildings on the street is the Headquarters of the Volga-Urals Military District, at No.71.

It was founded in 1947 as a department of architecture at the Ural State Technical University.
Church of All Saints, Yekaterinburg
For the Church on Blood in St. Petersburg, see Church of the Saviour on Blood. The Church on Blood in Honour of All Saints Resplendent in the Russian Land is a Russian Orthodox church built on the site of the Ipatiev House in Yekaterinburg, where Nicholas II, the last Emperor of Russia, and several members of his family and household were shot by the Bolsheviks during the Russian Civil War. The church commemorates the Romanov sainthood.
Yekaterinburg TV Tower
Yekaterinburg TV Tower is a tall incomplete structure in Yekaterinburg, Russia. Construction works started 1983, but were on-hold at the beginning of the 1990s, as its shaft reached a height of 220 metres. According to plans, the tower was intended to reach a structural height greater than 400 metres. Until the year 2000 it was illegally used for buildering and BASE jumping. After several fatal accidents, it was sealed.
Yekaterinburg-City
Yekaterinburg-City is a commercial center under construction in the center of Yekaterinburg. The project combines more than 400,000 square meters of commercial space, offices, hotels, entertainment centers, cafes, and restaurants. The plans include 12 buildings: four office towers, a commercial area to accommodate typical small and average-sized businesses, a so-called trading gallery and two hotels. The area occupies five hectares. The construction is due to be finished in 2018.

1950 Sverdlovsk air disaster
The Sverdlovsk air disaster of January 5th, 1950 was an airplane crash where all 19 of those on board were killed, including almost the entire national ice hockey team of the Soviet Air Force - 11 players, as well as a team doctor and a masseur. The team was on board a twin-engined Lisunov Li-2 transport aircraft, a licensed Soviet-built version of the DC-3, heading to a match against the Dynamo Moscow hockey club.
Rastorguyev-Kharitonov Palace
The Kharitonov Palace is arguably the grandest palatial residence in the Urals. This Neoclassical townhouse was commissioned in 1794 by Lev Rastorguyev, an Old Believer merchant and landowner. The main house was built on the so-called Annunciation Hill in Yekaterinburg. The nearby Annunciation Church was built at the same time. The palace takes its present name from Pyotr Kharitonov, Rastorguyev's son-in-law.

Ельцина, Uralʹskiĭ federalʹnyĭ universitet imeni pervogo Prezidenta Rossii B.N. Yelʹtsina, often shortened to UrFU, УрФУ) is one of the leading educational institutions in the Ural region. Ural Federal University acts as a research and innovation center of the Ural region, has close cooperation with the Russian Academy of Sciences.
Keyboard monument
Keyboard monument is an outdoor sculpture featuring the QWERTY keyboard. It is located in the Russian city of Yekaterinburg and is popular among tourists. It was created by Anatoly Vyatkin and installed on October 5, 2005 on the embankment of the Iset River in the city center. The landmark depicts an IBM PC compatible Cyrillic computer keyboard increased in scale 30:1 (the area covered by the monument being 16 × 4 m), with 86 concrete keys, each weighing up to 1,000 pounds.
Great Zlatoust Church
The Bolshoi Zlatoust (Большой Златоуст) is a 77-metre -high bell tower that used to dominate the skyline of Yekaterinburg before the Russian Revolution. It was the tallest building in the Urals region. It was destroyed in 1930 and rebuilt 80 years later. The name translates as the "Big (or Great) Chrysostom", a reference to the Orthodox church in the name of St. John Chrysostom that occupied the spot in the early 19th century.
UrFU, Institute of Physics and Technology
Institute of Physics and Technology (IPT) is one of leading institutions of Ural Federal University. IPT was transformed from Physical Engineering faculty of USTU-UPI during merging USTU-UPI and USU. The institute trains specialists in the following fields: physico-chemical, physical engineering, IT, social and humanitarian, quality management of innovative products and technologies. Monument to credit card
The first and the world's only monument to a plastic credit card was opened on August 5, 2011 in Yekaterinburg. The monument was erected on the corner of Bankovski alley and Malyshev street and represents a bas-relief of a hand that holds a credit card. The size of the monument is about two meters high and one meter wide. The creation of the monument was made under the initiative of the Vuz-Bank, which in 2011 celebrated the 20th anniversary of its founding.
