Milcovul
Milcovul is a commune in Vrancea County, Romania. It is located in the historical region of Moldavia. It is composed of two villages, Lămoteşti and Milcovul, and also included Gologanu and Răstoaca before these became separate communes in 2004. In 1227 Milcov became the seat of the Diocese of Cumania, a Roman Catholic bishopric which served the Cumans and the Teutonic Knights in the Burzenland. The diocese was destroyed during the Mongol invasion of Europe in 1241.

From 1948 to 1965, during the rule of Communist dictator Gheorghe Gheorghiu-Dej, the commune was called Suvorov, after Alexander Suvorov, the 18th-century Russian general who won several battles in the area.

Mircea Dumitrescu
Mircea Dumitrescu (September 3, 1926 – March 11, 2005) was a film critic, professor and essayist. He was known especially for his cinematography course accompanied by screenings in the main university cities in Romania. Mircea Dumitrescu was born in Dumitrești, Vrancea County to Elena Şisman and Victor Dumitrescu, but he was brought up in Buzău. He graduated from University of Bucharest and worked for Student's Culture House in Bucharest (1970–2005).
