Operation Tidal Wave
Operation Tidal Wave was an air attack by bombers of the United States Army Air Forces (USAAF) based in Libya on nine oil refineries around Ploiești, Romania on 1 August 1943, during World War II. It was a strategic bombing mission and part of the "oil campaign" to deny petroleum-based fuel to the Axis. The mission resulted in "no curtailment of overall product output", and so was unsuccessful.

Ilie Oană Stadium (Romanian: Stadionul Ilie Oană) is a football stadium located in Ploieşti, Romania and is the current home of Petrolul Ploiești. The stadium opened in September 2011 and has an all seated capacity of 15,500. The construction is built on the site of the former Ilie Oană Stadium, which was completed in 1937. The stadium can host UEFA Europa League semifinals and UEFA Champions League group matches. The stadium is named after Ilie Oană, a famous player and coach.

Prahova Stadium is a football-only stadium in Ploieşti, Romania. It is currently used mostly for football matches and is the home ground of the reserve and youth teams of football team Astra Ploieşti. The stadium is 100% the property of Astra Ploieşti president, Ioan Niculae. In the past, the old Romanian champion, and now a defunct team, Prahova Ploieşti, played here between 1980 and 2000, before the team was moved to Urlaţi and was later dissolved.

Ilie Oană Stadium (1937) was a multi-purpose stadium in Ploieşti, Romania. It was used mostly for football matches and was the home ground of FC Petrolul Ploieşti. The stadium used to hold up to 14,000 people before it was demolished. The stadium was named after Ilie Oană, a Romanian famous player and coach. The stadium was entirely demolished to build an all-seater new one which was opened in September 2011.

Olimpia Sports Hall
Olimpia Sports Hall (Romanian: Sala Sporturilor Olimpia) is an indoor arena in Ploieşti, Romania. Its best known tenant is the men's basketball club CSU Asesoft, one of the top teams of the Romanian championship, which also regularly plays in Europe, having won the FIBA EuroCup Challenge in 2005.
