Târgu Mureș is the seat of Mureș County in the north-central part of Romania. As of 2011 the city had a population of 127,849 inhabitants, being the 16th largest city in Romania.

It was built between 1925 and 1934 on the initiative of Archpriest Ştefan Rusu. As the seat of an archpriest and not a bishop, it is a church and not technically a cathedral, but is commonly referred to as such.
Teleki Library
The Teleki Library, also known as Teleki-Bolyai Library and Bibliotheca Telekiana, is a historic public library and current museum in Târgu-Mureş, Romania. One of the richest Transylvanian collections of cultural artefacts, it was founded by the Hungarian Count Sámuel Teleki in 1802, at the time when Transylvania was part of the Habsburg Monarchy, and has been open to the reading public ever since. It was among the first institutions of its kind inside the Habsburg-ruled Kingdom of Hungary.

The Cultural Palace (built between 1911 and 1913) is a remarkable construction in the centre of Târgu Mureş (Marosvásárhely). It was built to the request of György Bernády by Marcell Komor (1868-1944) and Dezső Jakab (1864-1932).

Žagar (or Zagar) is a headliner group of the Hungarian indie and electronic music scene. Their sound is based on contemporary electronic music, jazz and indie rock adding with experimental scratches by DJ Bootsie. Filitelnic gas field
The Filitelnic gas field is a natural gas field in the Filitelnic village of Bălăuşeri commune, Mureş County, Romania lying in the center of the Transylvanian Basin, a major natural gas producing region. It was discovered in 1958 and is developed by Romgaz. It began production in 1961 and produces natural gas and condensates. The total proven reserves of the Filitelnic gas field are around 1.43 trillion cubic feet, and production is around 107 million cubic feet per day .

Castra of Cristești
Although not unanimously accepted, the existence of the castra of Cristești in the Roman province of Dacia is substantiated by bricks and tiles bearing the name of a Roman military unit, the Ala I Gallorum et Bosporanorum. The lack of any other traces of the Roman fort may easily be due to its destruction by the Mureș River. at Cristeşti, a Roman settlement from the 2nd and 3rd centuries AD was unearthed which was an important center of potters.
