Rovinari
Rovinari is a town in Gorj County, southern Romania with a population of 12,603 as of 2002. It is a mining city, nearby to surface and underground mines. A big thermo-electrical power plant functions close to the town.
Lake Ceauru (project)
"Lake Ceauru" is the name of a project to build an artificial lake in Romania. The work was commissioned in 1965 by the country's communist authorities and the lake was to be fed from the waters of four rivers. The project was reported as completed, but only the initial building phase was carried out. Three billion lei were allocated and spent on the lake, which was supposed to cover about 200 km², have a capacity of 150 million m³, and be located south-west of Târgu Jiu, Gorj County.
Castra of Pinoasa
The castra of Pinoasa was a fort in the Roman province of Dacia. Matei Dan dates the castra to the period of the Dacian Wars. Its ruins were destroyed by excavations at the Rovinari Coal Mine.
