Cividade de Terroso
Cividade de Terroso was an important city of the Castro culture in North-western Iberian Peninsula, located in Póvoa de Varzim, Portugal. The city, known during the Middle Ages as Civitas Teroso (The City of Terroso), was built at the summit of Cividade Hill, in the ecclesiastical parish of Terroso, Póvoa de Varzim, less than 5 km from the coast, near the eastern edge of the modern city.

A Ver-o-Mar or Aver-o-Mar is a Portuguese ecclesiastic parish and former civil parish located in Póvoa de Varzim. In the census of 2001, it had a population of 8,675 inhabitants and a total area of 5.21 km². A 2012 law merged the parish with neighbouring Amorim and Terroso, becoming the northern parish of the city of Póvoa de Varzim, known as União das Freguesias de Aver-o-Mar, Amorim e Terroso.

Terroso is an ecclesiastical parish and former civil parish located in Póvoa de Varzim. In the census of 2001, it had a population of 2,472 inhabitants and a total area of 4.63 km². A 2012 law merged the parish with neighbouring Amorim and Aver-o-Mar, becoming the northern parish of the city of Póvoa de Varzim, known as União das Freguesias de Aver-o-Mar, Amorim e Terroso. Terroso derives from the Latin Terrosu meaning full of soil as a reference to Cividade or Cividade Hill.

Beiriz is a Portuguese parish and former civil parish located in Póvoa de Varzim. In the census of 2001, it had a population of 3,229 inhabitants and a total area of 4.31 km². A 2012 law merged the parish with neighbouring Póvoa de Varzim (parish) and Argivai, becoming the southern parish of the city of Póvoa de Varzim, known as União das Freguesias da Póvoa de Varzim, Beiriz e Argivai. Beiriz is known for its Tapetes de Beiriz (Beiriz carpets).

Amorim is a Portuguese parish and former civil parish, located in Póvoa de Varzim. In the census of 2001, it had a population of 2,856 inhabitants and a total area of 5.65 km². In 2013, it was amalgamated in the civil parish known as União das Freguesias de Aver-o-Mar, Amorim e Terroso. Amorim is derived from Latin, and means dating/love or couples place.
Cividade Hill
Cividade Hill or Cividade de Terroso Hill with an elevation of 153 metres is one of the two hills next to the city of Póvoa de Varzim in Portugal. Cividade Hill's most notable feature is Cividade de Terroso in the hilltop. It is an ancient Castro culture town, hence the name of the hill that derives from Latin civitas (city). The walled city thrived since 900 or 800 BC, before being conquered and destroyed by the Roman Republic around 138 BC.
