Caniço (Santa Cruz)

Caniço is a parish in the municipality of Santa Cruz in the Madeira Islands. It was elevated to city status in 2005. The population in 2001 is 11,586, its density is 965.5/km² and the area is 23 km². Caniço is connected with the urban sprawl of Funchal and like Calheta, Caniço is larger than the seat of the municipality. The city of Funchal is bordered to its west. It is located 6 km E of Funchal. Caniço is surrounded with two streams, a shorter one in the west and a long stream to the east.

Roman Catholic Diocese of Funchal

The Diocese of Funchal was created originally on January 12, 1514, by bull Pro excellenti præeminentia of Pope Leo X, following the elevation of Funchal from a village to the status of town (cidade), by King Manuel I of Portugal (royal mandate of August 21, 1508). The new diocese was a suffragan of the Archdiocese of Lisbon.

Estádio da Madeira

Estádio da Madeira, formerly named Estadio Eng. Rui Alves and informally known as Estádio da Choupana is a football stadium in Funchal, Madeira, Portugal. It is currently used mostly for the home matches of C.D. Nacional, one of two Liga Sagres teams located in Funchal (The other being fierce rivals C.S. Marítimo). The stadium is currently able to hold 5,132 people and was built as a one-stand 2,500 seat stadium in 2000, when Nacional moved in.

Campo de Futebol Adelino Rodrigues, also known as Campo do Liceu, is a multi-use stadium, mainly used for football, which is located in the city centre of Funchal, on the Portuguese island of Madeira. Cathedral of Funchal

The Cathedral of Our Lady of the Assumption (Portuguese: Sé Catedral de Nossa Senhora da Assunção) in Sé, Funchal, Madeira, Portugal is the cathedral of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Funchal, which encompasses all of the Autonomous Region of Madeira. The late fifteenth-century cathedral is one of the few structures that survives virtually intact since the early period of colonization of Madeira. Funchal Bay
