Cieszyn

Cieszyn is a border-town and the seat of Cieszyn County, Silesian Voivodeship, southern Poland. It has 36,109 inhabitants (2004). Cieszyn lies on the Olza River, a tributary of the Oder river, opposite Český Těšín. It is situated in the heart of the historical region of Cieszyn Silesia. Until the end of World War I in 1918 it was a seat of the Duchy of Teschen.

Jesus Church (Cieszyn)

Jesus Church or Grace Church is a Lutheran Church located in Cieszyn, Poland. It is one of the largest and most important Protestant churches in Poland. The construction of the Lutheran basilica was made possible with the assistance of Sweden's Charles XII, who forced Austrian Emperor Joseph I to provide right for Protestants. Late Austrian Baroque in style, Jesus Church was constructed between 1709-1750.

Bobrek, Cieszyn

Bobrek is a district of Cieszyn, Silesian Voivodeship, Poland. It was a separate municipality, but became administratively a part of Cieszyn in 1932. First mentioned in 1322. According to the Austrian census of 1910 Bobrek had 2,820 inhabitants, 2,790 of whom had permanent residence there. Census asked people for their native language, 2,241 (80,3%) were Polish-speaking, 438 (15,7%) were German-speaking and 111 (4%) were Czech-speaking.

Krasna, Cieszyn

Krasna is a district of Cieszyn, Silesian Voivodeship, Poland. It was a separate municipality, but became administratively a part of Cieszyn in 1973. It was first mentioned in a written document in 1284 as Pulcra villa. Since 1290 it belonged to the then formed Duchy of Teschen. In 1610 it was given by Adam Wenceslaus to reestablished Dominican Abbey in Cieszyn as a recompense for their lost gardens. At the beginning of 20th century two cemetery chapels were built: a Catholic and a Lutheran.

The village was first mentioned in a Latin document of Diocese of Wrocław called Liber fundationis episcopatus Vratislaviensis from around 1305 as Halambyci. It belonged then to the Duchy of Teschen, formed in 1290. The last noble owner of it was Karol Cselesta. Later it belonged to Komora Cieszyńska.

The name of the village means pastures in Polish, clearly suggesting the origin of the name and a role it served to citizens of Cieszyn.

Mnisztwo is a district of Cieszyn, Silesian Voivodeship, Poland. It was a separate municipality, but became administratively a part of Cieszyn in 1973. The area of the village was originally given to the Dominican Abbey, which was during Reformation (the date is not known) taken from them by Wenceslaus III Adam, Duke of Cieszyn. The village was however first mentioned later in 1577.
