Tychy
Tychy is a city in Silesia, Poland, approximately 20 kilometres south of Katowice. Situated on the southern edge of the Upper Silesian industrial district, the city borders Katowice to the north, Mikołów to the west, Bieruń to the east and Kobiór to the south. The Gostynia river, a tributary of the Vistula, flows through Tychy. Since 1999 Tychy has been located within the Silesian Voivodeship, a province consisting of 71 regional towns and cities.

Wujek Coal Mine
Wujek Coal Mine is a coal mine in Katowice, Poland. It is widely known in Poland as the place of the massacre of striking miners in 1981 (most often referred-to by the euphemism 'Pacification'). Mining operations began in the vicinity as early as the 16th century. The present mine, Oheim, was established in 1899 by a merger of six mining operations existing in Silesia (then a part of Germany). The peak Polish production was in 1979 (3.88 million tons that year).

Upper Silesian Coal Basin (Polish: Górnośląskie Zagłębie Węglowe, GZW, Czech: Hornoslezské uhelné pánve) is a coal basin in Silesia in Poland and Czech Republic. It also contains a number of other minable resources (methane, cadmium, lead, silver and zinc). Resources of coal to a depth to 1000 meters - about 70 billion tons, the conditions for the extraction - good.
Kościuszko Park
The Kosciuszko Park, which has existed since 1925, is one of the most famous and frequented parks in Katowice, Poland. It is situated at the street of the same name. Its foundation dates back to 1888 when a municipal park was founded on the 6 ha area of suburban grove. The present area of the park is 72 ha. Its arrangement is influenced by English gardens-parks, which is emphasized by an alley of roses turned to wild.
Zadole Park
The Zadole Park which used to be a hamlet of Piotrowice, but now it belongs to Katowice districts of Upper Silesian Metropolitan Union there is a park with an amphitheater for 800 persons, a swimming-pool complex, a cafe and a playground for children and walking alleys. In 1906-1914 it was a place of the convention of the Polish choirs and bands within the framework of the Singing Societies existing in that region at that time.

Parachute Tower Katowice
Parachute Tower Katowice (Polish: Wieża spadochronowa w Katowicach) is a 50 metre tall lattice parachute tower built in 1937 for training parachute jumps. It was used in the first days of World War II by the 73rd infantry regiment as an observation tower. The parachute Tower in Katowice is the only existing parachute tower in Poland.

Śródmieście ("city centre") is a district of the city of Katowice in southern Poland. This is the most urbanized part of the city, home of Silesian Parliament, Silesian Museum and Silesian Library along with international companies like ING or CITI Bank. There are a several consulates in city centre. The master plan of Central Katowice was designed by Friedrich Wilhelm Grundman in the second half of the 19th century. Extensive city growth took place during the Industrial Revolution.

The Upper Silesian Industrial Region (Polish: Górnośląski Okręg Przemysłowy, GOP; German: Oberschlesisches Industriegebiet) is a large industrial region in Poland. It lies mainly in the Silesian Voivodeship, centered around Katowice. It is situated in the northern part of Upper Silesian Coal Basin a home of altogether 5 million people, the southwest border of the Rybnik Coal Area and west borders with the Ostrava urban area. Covers 3,200 km² and about 3,5 million people.
St. Michael's church, Katowice
Church of St. Michael Archangel (Polish: Kościół św. Michała Archanioła w Katowicach) is one of the oldest buildings in Katowice. It's located in Kościuszko Park, where it was moved in 1938 from the village Syrynia, where it was originally constructed in 1510. It is under the invocation of St. Michael. It has end-fitted log framework construction and shingled roof. Free-standing belltower was completed before 1679; it has historic lych-gate and wooden fence around the churchyard.
Wyry
Wyry (German Wyrow) is a village in Mikołów County, Silesian Voivodeship, in southern Poland. It is the seat of the gmina (administrative district) called Gmina Wyry. It lies approximately 4 kilometres south of Mikołów and 15 km south-west of the regional capital Katowice. The village has a population of 6,400.
TTC Tychy
Teacher Training College of Foreign Languages in Tychy is a Polish state college established in 1990. It trains teachers of English and German under the pedagogical guidance of the University of Silesia in Katowice. Education in the college continues for three years and finishes with a diploma dissertation. The graduates are entitled to take the licencjat exam at the University of Silesia.

The Murcki coal mine is a large mine in the south of Poland in Katowice, Silesian Voivodeship, 260 km south-west of the capital, Warsaw. Murcki represents one of the largest coal reserve in Poland having estimated reserves of 228.2 million tonnes of coal. The annual coal production is around 3.8 million tonnes.
