Westerplatte

Westerplatte is a peninsula in Gdańsk, Poland, located on the Baltic Sea coast mouth of the Dead Vistula, in the Gdańsk harbour channel. From 1926 to 1939 it was the location of a Polish Military Transit Depot (WST), sanctioned within the territory of the Free City of Danzig (now Gdańsk). It is famous for the Battle of Westerplatte, which was the first clash between Polish and German forces during the Invasion of Poland and thus the first battle of the European theater of World War II.

Ostrów Island

Note that the word Ostrów or Ostrov is a generic Slavic name for an island Ostrów Island is an island on the Baltic Sea, located in the delta of Vistula river. Motława

Motława is a river in Eastern Pomerania in Poland. The source is in Szpegawskie lake, northeast from Starogard Gdański. It goes through Rokickie lake, and goes to Leniwka. Zaspa is one of the quarters of the city of Gdańsk, Poland. Divided into two quarters: Zaspa-Młyniec Zaspa-Rozstaje Zaspa was founded on a place previously occupied by an airport. The concrete airstrip of the airport was not dismantled, and now forms the axis of the quarter. Zaspa buildings are mainly high-rise condominiums (between 4 and 12 stories high) erected in the early 1980s. Additional thermal insulation in the form of styrofoam sheets was applied to them in the early 2000s.

The Martwa Wisla is a river, one of the branches of the Vistula, flowing through the city of Gdańsk in northern Poland. It got its name when this branch of the river became increasingly moribund. The Monument to the fallen Shipyard Workers 1970 (Polish: Pomnik Poległych Stoczniowców 1970) was unveiled on 16 December 1980 near the entrance to what was then the Lenin Shipyard in Gdańsk, Poland. It commemorates the 42 or more people killed during the Coastal cities events in December 1970. It was created in the aftermath of the Gdańsk Agreement and is the first monument to the victims of communist oppression to be erected in a communist country.

Gdańsk Stocznia railway station

Gdańsk Stocznia is an SKM stop in Gdańsk, Poland. It is the second stop of this urban train line on the way to Wejherowo. This stop is not merged with any railway station. German submarine U-10 (1935)

German submarine U-10 was a Type IIB U-boat built before World War II for service in the Kriegsmarine. As she was one of the first batch of boats built following the renunciation of the Treaty of Versailles, she was only capable of coastal and short cruising work. This led to her being reassigned to training duties after the Norwegian campaign of 1940 together with many of her sister boats.
