The gmina covers an area of 34.88 square kilometres, and as of 2006 its total population is 15,529.

The Warsaw Insurgents Cemetery (Polish: Cmentarz Powstańców Warszawy) is located in Wolska 174/176 street in the Wola district of Warsaw. It was established in 1945 and it occupies 1.5 ha. LOT Polish Airlines Flight 16
LOT Polish Airlines Flight 16 was a passenger flight which made an emergency landing at Warsaw Chopin Airport, Poland, on 1 November 2011 after its landing gear would not extend. All 231 aboard survived. The aircraft involved, a Boeing 767-300ER, was operating LOT Polish Airlines' scheduled international service from Newark Liberty International Airport, New Jersey, USA, to Chopin. A preliminary report put the cause down to a hydraulic leak shortly after take off.
