National Defence University of Warsaw
The National Defence University of Warsaw is the civil-military highest defence academic institution in Poland, located at Rembertów (now part of Warsaw). It was re-established in 1947 as the General Staff Academy and continues traditions of the Szkoła Rycerska ("The School of Knights") founded in 15 March 1765 and other subsequent military schools. Today the National Defence University, subordinate directly to the Polish Ministry of National Education.
Sulejówek
Sulejówek is a town in Poland, about 18 km east of Warsaw city centre and part of its metropolitan area. It is located in Masovian Voivodeship, in Mińsk County. Its population numbers 18,414 (2004). The town is well known in Poland as the place where Józef Piłsudski lived in the years between 1923 and 1926.
Kobyłka
Kobyłka is a town of 17,500 inhabitants located right outside of the city of Warsaw, near Wołomin in the Masovian Voivodeship. Located in a densely forested area, the town has been a village at least since 15th century. In 18th century the village was one of the main centres of production of Kontusz Belts. In 1751 the village was granted with a royal city charter, as an effect of extensive efforts of its owner, Bishop Marcin Załuski, who wanted to turn it into a large centre for pilgrims.
Góraszka
Góraszka is a village in the administrative district of Gmina Wiązowna, within Otwock County, Masovian Voivodeship, in east-central Poland. It lies approximately 3 kilometres north-west of Wiązowna, 8 km north of Otwock, and 20 km east of Warsaw. The village is near national road no. 17. Wawer massacre
The Wawer massacre refers to the execution of 107 Polish civilians on the night of 26 to 27 December 1939 by the Nazi German occupiers of Wawer, Poland. The execution was a response to the deaths of two German NCOs. 120 people were arrested and 114 shot, of which 7 survived. It is considered to be one of the first large scale massacres of Polish civilians by Nazi Germany in occupied Poland.
