Warsaw
Warsaw, known in Polish as Warszawa, is the capital and largest city of Poland. It is located on the Vistula River, roughly 260 kilometres from the Baltic Sea and 300 kilometres from the Carpathian Mountains. Its population is estimated at 1,708,491 residents within a greater metropolitan area of 2,666,278 residents, making Warsaw the 9th most populous city proper in the European Union.
Warsaw Uprising
The Warsaw Uprising was a major World War II operation by the Polish resistance Home Army to liberate Warsaw from Nazi Germany. The rebellion was timed to coincide with the Soviet Union's Red Army approaching the eastern suburbs of the city and the retreat of German forces. However, the Soviet advance stopped short, enabling the Germans to regroup and demolish the city while defeating the Polish resistance, which fought for 63 days with little outside support.
Warsaw University of Technology
The Warsaw University of Technology (Polish: Politechnika Warszawska; literally, "Warsaw Polytechnic") is one of the leading institutes of technology in Poland, and one of the largest in Central Europe. It employs 2,453 teaching faculty, with 357 professors (including 145 titular professors). The student body numbers 36,156 (as of 2011), mostly full-time. There are 19 faculties (divisions) covering almost all fields of science and technology. All are situated in Warsaw, except for one in Płock.
Aleje Jerozolimskie
Aleje Jerozolimskie is one of the principal streets of the city of Warsaw in Poland. It runs through the City Centre along the East-West axis, linking the western borough of Wola with the bridge on the Vistula River and the borough of Praga on the other side of the river. The name of the street comes from a small village erected in 1774 by August Sułkowski for the Jewish settlers in Mazovia.
Warsaw Uprising (1794)
The Warsaw Uprising of 1794 (otherwise the "Warsaw Insurrection"; Polish: insurekcja warszawska) was an armed Polish insurrection by the city's populace early in the Kościuszko Uprising. Supported by the Polish Army, it aimed to throw off Russian control of the Polish capital city. It began April 17, 1794, soon after Tadeusz Kościuszko's victory at Racławice.

Plac Konstytucji metro station
Plac Konstytucji (English: Constitution Square) is a proposed and planned Warsaw Metro station. It was included in the original plans, however it was temporarily dropped in 1989 due to budget constraints. As of 2009 this station is in hiatus - it is listed as a planned investment, but the last official update regarding its status dates to 2006. The proposed location of the station is the corner of Marszałkowska and Hoża streets, some 300 m north of the Constitution Square.
Wilcza
Wilcza (lit. Wolf Street) is a street in Warsaw's city centre. It links Koszykowa Street in the south-eastern part of the borough with the Plac Trzech Krzyży at the Royal Route. Initially, at least since 14th century the street was but a road running along the fields belonging to the vogts of old Warsaw, much to the south of the city's limits.
Three Crosses Square
Three Crosses Square (also Square of Three Crosses, Three Cross Square and Triple Cross Square) is an important square in the central district of Warsaw, Poland. It lies on that city's Royal Route and links Nowy Świat (New World) Street, to the north, with Ujazdów Avenue to the south. Much of the square's area is devoted to a major thoroughfare.
Savior Square
Plac Zbawiciela (in English, Savior Square) is a circular square in central Warsaw, Poland. The square was originally designed by 18th-century royal gardener Johann Christian Schuch as part of the royal gardens. Located toward the south end of Marszałkowska Street, near the Royal Baths Park, the square is named after the Church of the Most Holy Savior, which was built in 1901–27 and stands at the square's southern side.

The Music (sculpture)
The Music is one of three sculptures located on the roof of the building on Koszykowa Street 34/50 in Warsaw since 1952. The project was chosen after artistic competition. The monument was designed by Józef Gosławski, but his wife - Wanda - and his brother - Stanisław - helped him with realization because of the short deadline. Lack of scaffolds, problems with obtaining funds and short term forced artists to write a relevant letter to the chief architect of Warsaw - Józef Sigalin.
Constitution Square (Warsaw)
Constitution Square is a major square in the Śródmieście district of Warsaw, Poland. The square was constructed in the initial post-war years on the Marszałkowska street as a main element of socrealist urban project. Together with the Palace of Culture and Science it was the main architectural socrealist investment of Warsaw in 1949-1956. Its name comes from Stalinist constitution adopted in communist Poland in July 1952.
Warsaw Public Library
Warsaw Public Library (Polish: Biblioteka Publiczna m. st. Warszawy) is one of the main libraries in Warsaw, and one of the largest in Poland. The library was founded in 1907 by the Public Library Society, which was formed by foremost Polish educators and intelligentsia, like Stanisław Leszczyński, Samuel Dickstein, Ludwik Krzywicki and Stefan Żeromski. Since 1914 the library resides on the Koszykowa Street.
Ujazdów Avenue
Ujazdów Avenue is a major thoroughfare parallel to the Vistula River in the Śródmieście district of Warsaw, Poland. Origins of the avenue go to 1724-1731, when King August II ordered construction of the Calvary Road (Droga Kalwaryjska). By 1766 it was already a part of the Royal Route as Belweder Avenue leading to Belweder palace. In the second half of the 19th century many villas and palaces belonging to Polish aristocracy and industrialists were built.

1979 Warsaw gas explosion
The 1979 explosion at PKO Bank Polski’s Rotunda office in Warsaw took place on February 15, 1979, at 12:37 p.m. As a result, 49 people died and 135 were injured. Officially, the tragedy was caused by a gas explosion, but in the course of time much speculation appeared, and Varsovians talked among themselves that the building had been blown up by a bomb. Furthermore, to many the explosion served as a harbinger of future changes in Poland.
Rotunda (PKO)
PKO Rotunda is a rotunda-type building of the PKO BP bank in Warsaw, Poland. Designed in 1960–1969 (chief architect was Zbigniew Karpiński), it was the site of the 1979 Warsaw gas explosion.
