Second Polish Republic
The Second Polish Republic, Second Commonwealth of Poland or "interwar Poland" refers to the country of Poland between the First and Second World Wars. This was a period in the country's history when it was restored as an independent state. Officially known as the Republic of Poland or the Commonwealth of Poland, the Polish state was created in 1918, in the aftermath of World War I.
Warsaw University of Technology
The Warsaw University of Technology (Polish: Politechnika Warszawska; literally, "Warsaw Polytechnic") is one of the leading institutes of technology in Poland, and one of the largest in Central Europe. It employs 2,453 teaching faculty, with 357 professors (including 145 titular professors). The student body numbers 36,156 (as of 2011), mostly full-time. There are 19 faculties (divisions) covering almost all fields of science and technology. All are situated in Warsaw, except for one in Płock.
Mokotów Field
Pole Mokotowskie (Polish for "Mokotów Field"; often used in the plural form, Pola Mokotowskie, "Mokotów Fields") is a large park in Warsaw. Part of it is called "Józef Piłsudski Park. " Located between Warsaw's Mokotów district and the city center, the park is one of the largest in Warsaw. Until World War II, a major part was occupied by an airfield and the Warsaw Polytechnic aircraft works.
Warsaw School of Economics
The Warsaw School of Economics (SGH) is the oldest business school of university standing in Poland. It is ranked first amongst Polish business schools in the Perspektywy ranking. The Warsaw School of Economics was founded in 1906 as a private school under the name August Zieliński Private Trade Courses for Men. On 30 July 1919 it became a separate legal entity and was granted the status of an institution of higher education. The school was renamed Szkoła Główna Handlowa (SGH) in 1933.
Mokotów Prison
Mokotów Prison (Polish: Więzienie mokotowskie, also known as Rakowiecka Prison) is a prison in Warsaw's borough of Mokotów, Poland, located at Rakowiecka 37 street. It was built by the Russians in the final years of the foreign Partitions of Poland. During the Nazi German occupation and later, under the communist rule, it was a place of detention, torture and execution of the Polish political opposition and underground fighters.
Belweder
Belweder (in full Pałac Belwederski, Belweder Palace, from the Italian belvedere is a palace in Warsaw, a few kilometers south of the Royal Castle. The President of the Republic of Poland, Bronisław Komorowski, resides at Belweder. The palace is also widely recognized as the namesake of Belvedere vodka; an image of the palace appears on the brands bottle.
Łazienki Park
Łazienki Park (Polish: Park Łazienkowski or Łazienki Królewskie, literally Baths Park or Royal Baths) is the largest park in Warsaw, Poland, occupying 76 hectares of the city center. The park-and-palace complex lies in Warsaw's central district, on Ujazdów Avenue (Aleje Ujazdowskie) on the "Royal Route" linking the Royal Castle with Wilanów palace to the south. North of Łazienki Park, on the other side of Agrykola Street, stands Ujazdów Castle.

Savior Square
Plac Zbawiciela (in English, Savior Square) is a circular square in central Warsaw, Poland. The square was originally designed by 18th-century royal gardener Johann Christian Schuch as part of the royal gardens. Located toward the south end of Marszałkowska Street, near the Royal Baths Park, the square is named after the Church of the Most Holy Savior, which was built in 1901–27 and stands at the square's southern side.
1951 Mokotów Prison execution
On March 1, 1951, the Soviet-controlled communist Polish secret police, Urząd Bezpieczeństwa (UB), carried out an execution of seven members of the 4th Headquarters of anti-Communist organization Wolność i Niezawisłość (WiN) in the Mokotów Prison in Warsaw. All executed were members of WiN, who during World War II took active part in anti-Nazi resistance.
Legia Tennis Centre
The Legia Tennis Centre is a tennis complex in Warsaw, Poland. The complex is the host of the annual premier stop, the Warsaw Open. The stadium court has a capacity of 4,000 people.
The Music (sculpture)
The Music is one of three sculptures located on the roof of the building on Koszykowa Street 34/50 in Warsaw since 1952. The project was chosen after artistic competition. The monument was designed by Józef Gosławski, but his wife - Wanda - and his brother - Stanisław - helped him with realization because of the short deadline. Lack of scaffolds, problems with obtaining funds and short term forced artists to write a relevant letter to the chief architect of Warsaw - Józef Sigalin.
Constitution Square (Warsaw)
Constitution Square is a major square in the Śródmieście district of Warsaw, Poland. The square was constructed in the initial post-war years on the Marszałkowska street as a main element of socrealist urban project. Together with the Palace of Culture and Science it was the main architectural socrealist investment of Warsaw in 1949-1956. Its name comes from Stalinist constitution adopted in communist Poland in July 1952.
Warsaw Public Library
Warsaw Public Library (Polish: Biblioteka Publiczna m. st. Warszawy) is one of the main libraries in Warsaw, and one of the largest in Poland. The library was founded in 1907 by the Public Library Society, which was formed by foremost Polish educators and intelligentsia, like Stanisław Leszczyński, Samuel Dickstein, Ludwik Krzywicki and Stefan Żeromski. Since 1914 the library resides on the Koszykowa Street.
Ujazdów Avenue
Ujazdów Avenue is a major thoroughfare parallel to the Vistula River in the Śródmieście district of Warsaw, Poland. Origins of the avenue go to 1724-1731, when King August II ordered construction of the Calvary Road (Droga Kalwaryjska). By 1766 it was already a part of the Royal Route as Belweder Avenue leading to Belweder palace. In the second half of the 19th century many villas and palaces belonging to Polish aristocracy and industrialists were built.

Chopin Statue, Warsaw
The Chopin Statue is a large bronze statue of Frédéric Chopin that now stands in the upper part of Warsaw's Royal Baths Park aka Łazienki Park, adjacent to Aleje Ujazdowskie. It was designed in 1907 by Wacław Szymanowski for its planned erection on the centenary of Chopin's birth in 1910, but its execution was delayed by controversy about the design, then by the outbreak of World War I. The statue was finally cast and erected in 1926.
Chancellery of the Prime Minister of Poland
The Chancellery of the Prime Minister of Poland, or KPRM, is a governmental apparatus serving as the executive office for the Prime Minister of Poland. Created under the administrative reorganization reforms by the government of Włodzimierz Cimoszewicz in 1996 and implemented in the following year, the Chancellery assumed many responsibilities of the previous Office of the Council of Ministers.
