The Karachi Shipyard & Engineering Works Limited (KSEW), is Situated at West Wharf in Karachi, Sindh, Pakistan. Karachi Shipyard is the oldest Heavy Engineering Works of Pakistan which is catering for its Ship Building, Ship Repairing, Submarine/Warship Construction and Heavy/General Engineering requirements. KSEW was established in early 1950s as a project of PIDC. It was incorporated as a public limited company in 1957. The shipyard spread over an area of 29 hectares (71 acres).

AKD Tower will be the tallest building in Pakistan until the 593 meter tall high Port Tower Complex is completed.
2009 Karachi floods
The 2009 Karachi floods in Pakistan's financial centre, Karachi, have killed at least 26 people. The death toll is expected to rise, and more than 150 people have been injured in a series of related incidents. The floods are the result of the heaviest rains in the region in thirty years. Hundreds of homes were also damaged. Those killed either drowned, were electrocuted or died under collapsing roofs.

2010 Karachi Beechcraft 1900 crash
The 2010 Karachi Beechcraft 1900 crash occurred on 5 November 2010, when a Jahangir Siddiqui Air Beechcraft 1900 crashed near Karachi, Pakistan, killing all 21 aboard. The pilot had reported trouble with the engine of the aircraft shortly before the accident. The casualties were burned beyond recognition, making it "impossible to tell if the people were men or women".

2012 Pakistan garment factory fires
Garment factories in the Pakistani cities of Karachi and Lahore caught fire on 11 September 2012. The fires occurred in a textile factory in the western part of Karachi and in a shoemaking factory in Lahore. The fires are considered to be the most deadly and worst industrial factory fires in Pakistan's history, killing 315 people and seriously injuring more than 250.
