The village is the administrative center of Union Council 5 of Jhumra Tehsil, the village has a population of 3,257. The village was established when some Chatha people came here on digging of Canal Rakh Branch in 1890. These Chatha people came here from Gurdaspur however they are rooted back to Gujaranwala.
