Mina al Fahal
Mina' al Fahal is a coastal area in the northeast of Oman, near to the country's capital, Muscat. It was renamed from Saih al Maleh as the petroleum processing plant was developed. It is a key area for the country's petroleum operations. Petroleum Development Oman (PDO) is based at Mina al Fahal, and the Oman Refinery Company (ORC) has an 85,000 b/d oil refinery located here.
Shati Al-Qurm
Shatti Al-Qurm is an upscale residential locality situated on the coast of Muscat, the capital of the Sultanate of Oman. It is bordered by Al-Qurm to the east, the Ministries and Embassies to the west and Madinat Qaboos to the south. It is a very recent development not begun until the mid-80s. The most noticeable sight while driving down the Sultan Qaboos highway used to be the Intercontinental Hotel but today several other significant constructions have been built.
Muttrah
Muttrah, population 150,000 (2003), is a city located in the Muscat province of Oman. Before the discovery of oil, Muttrah was the center of commerce in Oman. It is still a center of commerce as one of largest sea ports of the region is located there. Other landmarks include Souq Muttrah, a traditional bazaar and Sour Al-Lawatiah, a small community of houses surrounded by an old wall. Muttrah is also a map in a popular Battlefield 2 mod, Project Reality.
Ruwi
Ruwi is commercial hub and the main business district of Muscat, Sultanate of Oman. It's located around 5 km from the main residential localities of Al-Khuwair, Madinat Al Sultan Qaboos, Shati Al-Qurm and Al-Qurm. One of the oldest parts of Muscat Ruwi was known for its narrow streets and old buildings some of which were demolished in the 1970s to build commercial structures.
Royal Oman Police Stadium
Royal Oman Police Stadium is a multi-purpose stadium in Muscat, Oman. It is currently used mostly for football matches and is the home stadium of Oman Club. The stadium has a capacity of 15,000 people. The stadium is maintained by the Royal Oman Police and plays host to various national cultural events and parades.

Capture of Muscat (1552)
The Capture of Muscat occurred in 1552, when an Ottoman fleet under Piri Reis attacked Muscat, modern Oman, and seized the town from the Portuguese. These events followed the important Ottoman defeat in the Second Siege of Diu in 1546, which put a stop to their attempts in India, but also the successful Capture of Aden (1548), which allowed the Ottomans to resist to the Portuguese in the northwestern part of the Indian Ocean.

Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Oman)

The ministry is controlled by the country's Sultan and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Qaboos bin Said al Said, who also holds the titles of Prime Minister, Minister of Defense and Minister of Finance. Yusuf bin Alawi bin Abdullah, however, holds the post of "Minister Responsible for Foreign Affairs" and has done so since 1997.
