Norske Løve Fortress
Norske Løve is the name of a 19th century fortress built from 1852 to 1859 to protect Karljohansvern naval station in Horten in Norway. Its name is a reference to the Coat of Arms of Norway. The fort is still a military area, but is today only used as an administration building for the Norwegian naval officers training school. The fort was constructed by Balzar Nicolai Garben.
Citadellet
Citadellet (The Citadel) is the name of a 19th century fortress built between 1848 to 1851. The fortress was intended to protect the Royal Norwegian Navy's Karljohansvern naval station in Horten. Its architect was Christian Heinrich Grosch (1801-1865). The fort was demolished in 1971 to make room for a new large welding hall to be added to the naval ship yard.
Karljohansvern
Karjohansvern (Karljohansvern Orlogsstasjon, KJV) in Horten was the main base for the Royal Norwegian Navy from 1819 to 1963. It was first called Hortens verft, and later Marinens Hovedværft until King Oscar I named it Carljohansværn værft in 1854 (after his father Karl Johan). It was the site of the Navy Main Yard, Navy Air Plane Factory, Navy Museum, Navy Schools and the forts Norske Løve and Citadellet. Naval District East (ØSD) based there was disbanded in 2002.
Borre Golfbane
Borre Golfbane was opened with nine holes in 1990 and 18 holes the following year. In 2005 the course opened nine new holes, which were added to the first nine along lake Borrevannet. Borre Golfbane has hosted two Challenge Tour events: the first professional golf tournament on Norwegian soil, the Karsten Ping Norwegian Challenge in 1994, sponsored by Karsten Solheim, and in 1998, the Netcom Norwegian Open. The course is located in Norway near the small town Horten by the Oslofjord.
Skoppum Station
Skoppum Station is a railway station on the Vestfold Line in the village of Skoppum, in Horten, Norway. The station is served with InterCity Express trains operated by the Norwegian State Railways. The station was built as part of Vestfoldbanen in 1881. There is a connecting bus service to Horten (7 km).
