Karmsund
Karmsund is a strait dividing Karmøy and Haugesund municipalities in western Norway. The Karmsund Bridge linking Karmøy to the mainland was completed in 1955. Near the Norsk Hydro Factory three powerlines cross Karmsund on 143 metres tall electricity pylons, which are the tallest in Norway. The eddic poem Grímnismál says that Thor, the weather god, wades the straits at Karmsund every morning on his way to Yggdrasil, the tree of life.
Karmsund Bridge
Karmsund Bridge (in Norwegian Karmsund bru) over the Karmsund strait links Karmøy island in Rogaland to the Norwegian mainland. It is 691 meters in length and has a maximum span of 184 meters . It was completed in 1955.
Haugesund Stadion
Haugesund Stadion is a multi-purpose stadium in Haugesund, Norway. It is currently used mostly for football matches, and is the home ground of Norwegian Premier League team FK Haugesund and Second Division team SK Vard Haugesund. It is also used as an athletics venue for Haugesund IL. The venue hosted the Norwegian Athletics Championships in 1965 and 1981.
Vibrandsøy
Vibrandsøy is an island which is part of the Haugesund municipality in Rogaland, Norway. The island lies west of the densely built-up Hasseløy. The island is now used as a recreational area. The island was part of the Torvastad municipality until 1965, and is the only part of the former municipality which was not incorporated into Karmøy. As such, the island is the newest part of the Haugesund municipality.
Haraldshaugen
Haraldshaugen is a national monument in Haugesund, Norway. The monument was erected during the millennial celebration of Norway's unification into one kingdom under the rule of King Harald I of Norway . Haraldshaugen was unveiled on July 18, 1872 by Crown Prince Oscar in connection with the one thousand year anniversary of the Battle of Hafrsfjord. The monument is designed by Norwegian architect Christian Christie.
