University of Bergen
The University of Bergen (Norwegian: Universitetet i Bergen) is located in Bergen, Norway. Although founded as late as 1946, academic activity had taken place at Bergen Museum as far back as 1825. The university today serves more than 14,500 students.
Bergen Museum
The Bergen Museum is a university museum in Bergen, Norway. Founded in 1825 with the intent of building large collections in the fields of culture and natural history, it became the grounds for most of the academic activity in the city, a tradition which has prevailed since the museum became part of the University of Bergen. Bergen Museum is divided into two departments, the Natural History Collections and the Cultural History Collections.
Kvarteret
Det Akademiske Kvarter (eng. The Academic Quarter), more commonly known as Kvarteret, is a student house in Bergen, Norway. The house is run by about 400 volunteer students. Kvarteret hosts a huge number of happenings each year, ranging from juggling shows to concerts. In addition to hosting cultural events it offers the volunteers experience as sound technicians, bartenders, photographers and system administrators to mention a few.

The Bergen International Film Festival (BIFF) is a film festival held annually in October in Bergen, Norway since 2000, and is the largest film festival in the nation in number of films. The 11th edition of the festival in 2010 featured 150 films in the program, a new record. The festival leader is Tor Fosse, and BIFF is owned by Bergen Cinema.
Centre for Medieval Studies, Bergen
The Centre for Medieval Studies at the University of Bergen, Norway was founded in 2003 by the Research Council of Norway. The organization's site defines its goal as follows: "to enhance our understanding of Europe as a whole, in the Middle Ages as well as today, from a peripheral point of view". It is headed by Sverre Bagge.

Bergensavisen (lit. "the Bergen newspaper"), usually shortened to BA, is the second largest newspaper in Bergen, Norway. It is published in tabloid format. The newspaper webpage ba. no is Bergen's largest local newspaper webpage. In 2006, Bergensavisen had a daily circulation of 30.719 on Monday to Saturday, and 29.782 on Sundays. Approximately 108.000 read the paper every day.
Grieg Hall
The Grieg Hall is a 1,500 seat concert hall in Bergen, Norway. It has been the home of the Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra since the hall's completion in 1978. It hosted the Eurovision Song Contest in 1986, and is the host of the annual Norwegian Brass Band Championship competition, which occurs in mid-winter. The hall is named after Bergen-born composer Edvard Grieg, who was music director of the Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra from 1880 until 1882.

Studentersamfunnet i Bergen, (eng. Bergen Student Society), is the oldest public student organisation in Bergen, Norway. It was founded in 1934, 12 years before the University of Bergen, by students and acedemici from Bergen Museum founded in 1825 and seat of higher education and research in Western Norway. The Student Society is the largest independent arena for political, academic and cultural debates in Western Norway.
Bergen Storsenter
Bergen Storsenter is the largest shopping centre in central Bergen, Norway, with a turnover of 1,024 billion Norwegian krone in 2002. The first shopping centre on this location opened in 1988 and was called Bystasjonen. In 1999 Bergen Storsenter opened, at which point the number of stores had grown from c. 30 to 72.
Bergen Light Rail
Bergen Light Rail is a light rail system in Bergen, Norway. The first stage of the project is a fifteen-station, 9.8-kilometre stretch between the city center and Nesttun, which opened on 22 June 2010. Construction continued from Nesttun to Rådal in January 2011; further plans for the project involve three lines, stretching to Bergen Airport, Flesland; Åsane and Storavatnet. Plans for rail transit have existed since the 1970s, following the 1965 closing of the Bergen Tramway.

Møhlenpris, formerly Vestre Sydnes, is a neighbourhood in the city of Bergen, Norway, located next to the Puddefjord. The neighbourhood is named after Jørgen Thor Møhlen, who established some industry at Møhlenpris in the late 17th century. Most of the buildings date from the late 19th and early 20th centuries.

The Puddefjord Bridge is an arch bridge in Bergen, Norway. It consists of two directly adjacent, near-identical bridges, the first of which was built in 1956 and the second in 1999. The bridge carries six lanes of motor vehicles and two cycle/footpaths across the Puddefjorden in central Bergen, between Møhlenpris in the city centre and Gyldenpris in Årstad borough.
Lille Lungegårdsvannet
Lille Lungegårdsvannet is a small lake in the city centre of Bergen, Norway. The octagon-shaped lake was formerly connected to Store Lungegårdsvannet, but the strait between the two was removed in 1926. Historically having been much larger than it now is, Lille Lungegårdsvannet slowly but steadily shrunk to its present size until it got its current shape in the 20th century.
Hulen
Hulen ('The Cave') is a student-driven rock club in Bergen, Norway, that opened on 17 May 1969. Hulen has its premises in an old bomb shelter below Nygårdshøyden in the city center of Bergen. The shelter is rented from the Norwegian Civil Defence. During its 40 years of existence Hulen has been threatened with bankruptcy etc. , but has managed to continue because of their volunteers and supporters.
Magnus Barefoot Cinema Centre
Magnus Barefoot Cinema Centre is a cinema multiplex with 5 screens owned by Bergen Cinema. It is named after the street that runs along the building (however, it is not the address of the complex), which in turned is named after the Norwegian king Magnus Barefoot. It is the main venue of Bergen International Film Festival.
Bergen Student-TV
Bergen Student-TV (BSTV) is a local community television station based in Bergen, Norway. The channel's main purpose is to deliver news and entertainment to students of Bergen. The employees are students, working voluntarily to get more media experience. Until 2009 BSTV had weekly shows on the local broadcaster BTV. The station also broadcasts some programs online. In addition some of the material produced is sent on the national community TV network, Frikanalen.
Natural Science Building (University of Bergen)
The Natural Science Building is located in Allégaten 41 at Nygårdshøyden in Bergen, right next to Nygårdsparken. The building is a part of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences at the University of Bergen. The building was drawn by architect Harald Ramm Østgård, and built between 1963-1977. The Sciences Building is one of Norway's largest buildings with 47000 square meters usable area. The building is considered one of the best examples of brutalistic architecture in Bergen.
Hans Majestet Pinnsvinet
Hans Majestet Pinnsvinet (eng. His Majesty the Hedgehog), or Erinaceus europaeus minor, Rex et Inspirator, is the high protector of Studentersamfunnet i Bergen (eng. Bergen Student Society). The Majesty appeared in 1935, one year after the Student Society was founded. To appoint an animal as protector is a tradition in norwegian student organisations, dating back too 1859 when Norwegian Students' Society in Oslo selected a pig as their highest protector.
