New Plymouth
New Plymouth is the major city of the Taranaki Region on the west coast of the North Island of New Zealand. It is named after Plymouth, Devon, England, from where the first English settlers migrated. The New Plymouth District includes New Plymouth City and several smaller towns. The New Plymouth District is the 15th largest district (out of 73) in New Zealand, and has 1.7 percent of New Zealand's population.
Yarrow Stadium
Yarrow Stadium is situated in the central suburb of Westown in New Plymouth, Taranaki, New Zealand, with main vehicle access off Maratahu St. Named the third best rugby stadium on earth by New Zealand Rugby World magazine in (May 2009), Yarrow Stadium (known as Stadium Taranaki for the Rugby World Cup 2011) to conform with the IRB's "clean stadium" policy.

The suburb is built around the site of early settler Henry King's farm, Woodleigh, the father of William Cutfield King. The population was 3,447 in the 2006 Census, a decrease of 33 from 2001. The suburb is one of the older and more established suburbs of the city, lying in the valley of the Huatoki River.
Moturoa

The population was 3,558 in the 2006 Census, an increase of 315 from 2001. The Ngamotu Domain lies to the south of Moturoa, and Mount Moturoa to the west. Ngamotu Beach is to the north.
Port Taranaki
Port Taranaki is a port complex located in New Plymouth, New Zealand. It is the only deep water port on the west coast of New Zealand, and is owned by the Taranaki Regional Council. The port handles a wide range of coastal and international cargoes, mostly relating to the farming, engineering and petrochemical industries. Adjacent features include the city of New Plymouth, the New Plymouth Power Station and the Sugar Loaf Islands Marine Protected Area (SLIMPA).

Welbourn, New Zealand
Welbourn (often misspelled Welbourne) is a suburb of New Plymouth, in the western North Island of New Zealand. It is located to the southeast of the city centre. Te Henui Stream runs through the suburb and State Highway 3 forms its western boundary. The population was 1,698 in the 2006 Census, a decrease of 60 from 2001. The suburb began as a railway settlement.
Hurdon
Hurdon is a suburb of New Plymouth, in the western North Island of New Zealand. It is located to the southwest of the city centre. The population of the "Upper Westown" area, which is largely the same area as the suburb, was 1,503 in the 2006 Census, an increase of 60 from 2001. One of the early settlers of the area was a Peter Elliot, who arrived on the Amelia Thompson in 1841. He established the first dairy in New Plymouth, which he called Hurdon. A school was established in his barn in 1853.
Marfell
Marfell is a suburb of New Plymouth, in the western North Island of New Zealand. It is located to the southwest of the city centre. The Mangaotuku Stream runs past Marfell. The population was 2,046 in the 2006 Census, an increase of 51 from 2001.
Taranakite
Taranakite is a hydrated alkali iron-aluminium phosphate mineral with chemical formula3526·18H2O. It forms from the reaction of clay minerals or aluminous rocks with solutions enriched in phosphate derived from bat or bird guano or, less commonly, from bones or other organic matter. Taranakite is most commonly found in humid, bat inhabited caves near the boundary of guano layers with the cave surface.
Sugar Loaf Islands
The Sugar Loaf Islands (often Sugarloaf Islands) (Māori: Ngā Motu, "the islands") are a collection of five small uninhabited islands and several sea stacks near Port Taranaki, Taranaki, New Zealand. The largest island, Moturoa Island, covers approximately 1.4 hectares . Motumahanga is the island furthest from shore, at approximately 1,500 metres or 1.5 kilometres . The Sugar Loaf Islands Marine Protected Area (SLIMPA) was established in 1991 to protect the area from oil exploration.

Govett-Brewster is recognised internationally for contemporary art, and has received many awards. In 2009, the gallery was honoured by the Arts Foundation of New Zealand with their Governor's Award.
Pukekura Park
Pukekura Park is a Garden of National Significance, covering 52ha near the heart of New Plymouth, Taranaki in New Zealand. The park contains a diverse range of native and exotic plants. Various easy walking trails cross the park and meander along the lake sides, taking in the features of the park. Among these are the picturesque Poet's Bridge, which was opened on 11 March 1884. There is also a man-made cascading waterfall and a fountain in the aptly named Fountain Lake.
Wind Wand
The Wind Wand is a 48-metre kinetic sculpture located in New Plymouth, New Zealand. The sculpture includes a 45-metre tube of red fibreglass, and was made to designs by artist Len Lye. To residents, it is one of the main icons of New Plymouth. Originally installed in December 1999 along with the Coastal Walkway, it had to be taken down within weeks. After repairs it was reinstalled in June 2001. The red fibreglass tube stands vertical in still air, but bends in the wind.

Festival of Lights (New Plymouth)
The TSB Bank Festival of Lights is an annual event held in Pukekura Park, New Plymouth. Running for free every year from mid-December to early February, it has daytime and night time programmes of events for people of all ages, and the festival itself transforms the park into an illuminated wonderland every evening. Colorful lights are used to highlight tree crowns, ferns, and other plants.
