Goat Island / Rakiriri is an island in Otago Harbour in Otago, in the southern South Island of New Zealand. It is located between Port Chalmers and Portobello, to the northeast of Dunedin's city centre. It has one of New Zealand's dual placenames. The Maori language portion Rakiriri means "Angry sky". The second-largest island in the harbour, Goat Island covers 4.5 hectares, and is located to the northwest of the larger Quarantine Island/Kamau Taurua.
Broad Bay, New Zealand
The settlement of Broad Bay is located on the Otago Harbour coast of Otago Peninsula, in the South Island of New Zealand. It is administered as part of the city of Dunedin, and is technically a suburb of that city, though its isolation and semi-rural nature make it appear as a settlement in its own right. Broad Bay is 13 kilometres to the east of the city centre, but due to the shape of the peninsula's coastline, the heart of the city cannot be seen from Broad Bay.
St Leonards, New Zealand
St Leonards is a suburb of the New Zealand city of Dunedin. It is located close to the northern shore of the Otago Harbour and on the hilly slopes above the harbour. St Leonards is 8.5 kilometres northeast of Dunedin's city centre, between the small settlement of Burkes and Sawyers Bay.
Sawyers Bay
Sawyers Bay is a suburb of the New Zealand city of Dunedin. It is located 3 kilometres to the southwest of Port Chalmers in a wide valley on the shore of Mussel Bay, 13 kilometres to the northeast of Dunedin city centre. The bay, an indentation in the northeast coast of Otago Harbour, lies between the two rocky headlands of Port Chalmers in the east and Roseneath in the west. The South Island Main Trunk rail line and State Highway 88 run along the shore of the bay.
Roseneath, Otago
Roseneath is a small suburb of the New Zealand city of Dunedin, located on the northwestern shore of Otago Harbour, 12 kilometres to the northeast of Dunedin city centre. It is situated between Saint Leonards and Port Chalmers on a rocky promontory of the same name which juts 0.6 kilometres into the harbour between Sawyers Bay and Blanket Bay. The suburb and promontory are likely to have been named from the similar location of Rosneath in Scotland.
Company Bay
Company Bay is both a bay and a semi-rural suburb of Dunedin, New Zealand, located on the Otago Harbour (northernwestern) coast of Otago Peninsula between Macandrew Bay and Portobello.
