Alexandra, New Zealand
Alexandra is a town in the Central Otago district of the Otago region of New Zealand. It is located on the banks of the Clutha River (at the confluence of the Manuherikia River), on State Highway 8, 188 km by road from Dunedin and 33 km south of Cromwell. At the time of the 2006 census, the permanent population was 4,827, an increase of 423 since 2001. 23.1 per cent of the population (higher than the national average) was aged over 65.
Manuherikia River
The Manuherikia River is located in Otago in the South Island of New Zealand. It rises in the far north of the Maniototo, flowing southwest for 85 kilometres before its confluence with the Clutha River at Alexandra. During the 1860s the Manuherikia was one of the centres of the Central Otago Gold Rush.
Cromwell Gorge
The Cromwell Gorge is a deep gorge on the Clutha River in the Otago region of New Zealand's South Island. It stretches for 20 km south of the town of Cromwell towards Alexandra. Long associated with the production of stone fruit, the gorge was substantially drowned in the 1990s by the creation of Lake Dunstan behind the hydroelectric Clyde Dam. This resulted in the closure of the Otago Central Railway beyond Clyde and the re-routing of State Highway 8's route through the gorge.

The Central Otago District is one of the 53 districts of New Zealand. It is administered by the Central Otago District Council and it is in the Otago Region, the top tier of local government in New Zealand. The major towns in the district are Alexandra (the seat of local government), Cromwell, Roxburgh, Clyde and Ranfurly. The Central Otago District is part of what is informally known as Central Otago. It was formed in 1989 from the merger of the former Vincent and Maniototo Counties.

Dunstan High School
Dunstan High School is a state secondary school located in Alexandra, in the Central Otago district in the South Island of New Zealand. Dunstan High School also runs the Tititea Outdoor Education Centre, which is located in the old homestead in the East Matukituki Valley on the outskirts of the Mount Aspiring National Park. In 2009, the school installed an $800,000 clean-burning heating system, replacing a coal-fuelled system, and constructed a new $2.3 million gymnasium.

Sigaus childi is an endangered protected species of grasshopper from South Island, New Zealand known from the Alexandra district. Two species of grasshoppers are listed for protection under the Wildlife Act 1953 of New Zealand: S. childi and Brachaspis robustus. The genus Sigaus is endemic to the New Zealand.
Molyneux Park
Molneux Park is a cricket ground in Alexandra, Otago, New Zealand. The first recorded match held on the ground came in January 1961 when Central Otago played the touring Marylebone Cricket Club. The ground later held its first first-class match during the 1978/79 Shell Cup when Otago played Central Districts. The following season the first List A match was held there when Otago played Wellington in the 1980/81 Shell Trophy.
