Poverty Bay

Poverty Bay is the largest of several small bays on the east coast of New Zealand's North Island to the north of Hawkes Bay. It stretches for 10 kilometres from Young Nick's Head in the southwest to Tuaheni Point in the northeast. The city of Gisborne is located on the northern shore of the bay. The name is often used by extension to refer to the entire area surrounding the city of Gisborne.

Titirangi (hill)

Titirangi is a hill in Gisborne city, New Zealand. It is also known as Kaiti Hill, but this refers to the first ridge overlooking Poverty Bay and Gisborne. The hill is an ancestral site of the Ngati Oneone hapū (sub-tribe) in Gisborne. It is at the base of this hill that Captain James Cook came ashore, after first sighting New Zealand in October 1769.

2ZG was a radio station in Gisborne originally owned by the Radio New Zealand commercial operation. The station was first started as 2XG in 1948 broadcasting on 1010AM. In the 1960s the call sign and brand name were changed to 2ZG and the station moved to 1060AM. Gisborne region

The Gisborne region is an area of northeastern New Zealand governed by the Gisborne District Council, a unitary authority. Its largest settlement, the city also named Gisborne, is located at the northern end of Poverty Bay on the east coast. Gisborne is named for an early Colonial Secretary William Gisborne. Kaiti is a suburb of the New Zealand city of Gisborne. It is located immediately to the east of the city centre, on the opposing bank of the Waimata River. Harry Barker Reserve

Harry Barker Reserve is a cricket ground in Te Hapara, Gisborne, New Zealand which is named after the former mayor of Gisborne. The first recorded match held on the ground came in 1948 when Poverty Bay played Hawkes Bay in the 1948/49 Hawke Cup. The local council purchased the ground in 1962, prior to which it formed part of a nine-hole golf course. The ground held its first first-class match Northern Districts played Otago in the 1974/75 Plunket Shield.
