Rangitaiki River
Not to be confused with the Rangitikei River in the southwestern North Island. The Rangitaiki River is the longest river in the Bay of Plenty region in New Zealand's North Island. It is 155 kilometres in length, and rises inland from northern Hawke Bay to the east of the Kaingaroa Forest.
Tarawera River
The Tarawera River is in the Bay of Plenty Region in the North Island of New Zealand. It flows from Lake Tarawera, northeastwards across the northern flanks of the active volcano Mount Tarawera, and past the town of Kawerau before turning north, reaching the Bay of Plenty six kilometres to the west of Edgecumbe. The Tarawera Falls on the river are considered to be quite spectacular.
Matata, New Zealand
Matata is a town located in the North Island of New Zealand. The town is 24 kilometres to the north-west of Whakatane. The population of Matata in the 2001 Census was 666. In 2005 the town was inundated by two debris flows sourced in the Awatarariki and Waitepuru Streams. Although the disaster devastated a number of buildings, there were no human casualties.
