Leiden University

The university was founded in 1575 by William, Prince of Orange, leader of the Dutch Revolt in the Eighty Years' War. Zoetermeer
Zoetermeer is a city in the western Netherlands, in the province of South Holland. The municipality covers an area of 37.06 km² (of which 2.15 km² is water). A small village until the late 1960s, it had 6,392 inhabitants in 1950. By 1 January 2010 this had grown to 121,580, making it the third largest population centre in the province of South Holland, after Rotterdam and The Hague. It is part of the Haaglanden conurbation.

Hazerswoude is a former municipality in the Dutch province of South Holland. It contained the towns of Hazerswoude-Dorp and Hazerswoude-Rijndijk, and the villages Groenendijk and Bent. Hazerswoude was a separate municipality until 1991, when it became part of Rijneveld.
Leiden Observatory
Leiden Observatory (Sterrewacht Leiden in Dutch) is an astronomical observatory in the city of Leiden, Netherlands. It was established by Leiden University in 1633, to house the quadrant of Snellius, and is the oldest operating University observatory in the world (before this, astronomy taught at medieval universities tended to be of a more theoretical nature, and any observations were usually done with private equipment rather than at University observatories —see this timeline).

Benthorn
Benthorn is a hamlet in the Dutch province of South Holland. It is located in the municipality of Rijnwoude, about 2 km east of the centre of Benthuizen. Benthorn used to be a heerlijkheid (manor), owned by the States of Holland and West Friesland. It was sold to Adam Adriaan van der Duyn, lord of 's Gravemoer, in 1724. Hogeveen is a hamlet in the Dutch province of South Holland. It is located in the municipality of Rijnwoude, about 2 km south of Hazerswoude-Dorp. Hogeveen (then also spelled Hoogeveen) was a separate municipality between 1817 and 1855, when it merged with Benthuizen. The municipality was often called "Hoogeveen in Rijnland" to distinguish it from the municipality Hoogeveen in Delfland, also in South Holland.

Moerkapelle
Moerkapelle is a village in the Dutch province of South Holland. It is located about 6 km east of the city of Zoetermeer, in the municipality of Zevenhuizen-Moerkapelle. Moerkapelle was a separate municipality between 1817 and 1991, when it merged with Zevenhuizen, to create a new municipality originally called "Moerhuizen". In 1992, it changed its name to Zevenhuizen-Moerkapelle. Its name is derived from the combination of moeras (swamp) and kapel (chapel).
Bonaventura College Burggravenlaan
Bonaventura College Burggravenlaan is one of four secondary schools that make up the Bonaventura College in Leiden, Netherlands. The name "Burggravenlaan" is derived from the street in which the school is based. The school offers education at vmbo-tl, havo and vwo level. The school is officially noted as Roman catholic. Bonaventuracollege Burggravenlaan currently consists of two buildings; the original and a new building built on the schoolyard in 2001.

The old Zegwaart was a ribbon development along what remains until today as Zegwaartseweg, which is perpendicular to Dorpstraat.

Zevenhuizen is a village in the Dutch province of South Holland. It is located about 12 km northeast of the city of Rotterdam. Zevenhuizen was a separate municipality until 1991, when it merged with Moerkapelle to form the new municipality of Moerhuizen (renamed in 1992 to Zevenhuizen-Moerkapelle). Since 2010 Zevenhuizen-Moerkapelle is part of the new municipality of Zuidplas.

Leiden American Pilgrim Museum
The Leiden American Pilgrim Museum is a small museum in the Dutch city of Leiden dedicated to the Pilgrim Fathers (or simply Pilgrims). These Separatists or English Dissenters were religious refugees who had fled England to Amsterdam in 1608 and moved to Leiden the next year. They lived and worked in that city for about 12 to 20 years. In 1620, their emigration began.
