Oldenzaal
Oldenzaal is a municipality and a city in the eastern province of Overijssel in the Netherlands. It is part of the region of Twente and is close to the German border. It received city rights in 1249. Historically, the city was part of the Hanseatic League as a subsidiary city of the fellow Hanseatic city of Deventer. Located on the A1 motorway from Amsterdam to Germany, Oldenzaal also has a rail connection to Hengelo.
Enschede fireworks disaster
The Enschede fireworks disaster was a catastrophic fireworks explosion occurring at the SE Fireworks depot on 13 May 2000, in the eastern Dutch city of Enschede. The fire led to an enormous explosion which killed 23 people and injured 947. The first explosion had a strength in the order of 800 kg TNT equivalence, while the strength of the final explosion was within the range of 4000-5000 kg TNT. The biggest blast was felt up to 30 kilometres from the scene.

Twente is a non-administrative region in the eastern Netherlands. It encompasses the most urbanised and easternmost part of the province of Overijssel. Twente is most likely named after the Tuihanti or Tvihanti, a Germanic tribe that settled in the area and was mentioned by the Roman historian Tacitus.
Delden
Delden is a town in the Dutch province of Overijssel and, since 2001, in the municipality of Hof van Twente. Although its population is small, it gained city rights in 1333. Castle Twickel is a famous landmark near Delden and the Baron van Heeckeren of Twickel built a watertower in Delden. While drilling for water, the Baron's men discovered salt, which started the salt industry in the region of Twente. In 2009, the city had a population of 7,080.
Usselo
Usselo ['ʏsəloː 'ʏsəloː] is a Dutch village in the municipality of Enschede in the eastern Netherlands in region of Twente. It is located just west of Enschede and east of Boekelo. It has existed for over 800 years. Archeology shows that the region was inhabited more or less continuously since the last ice-age. The region is very fertile and will support agriculture and cattle.
Rijksmuseum Twenthe
The Rijksmuseum Twenthe in Enschede, the Netherlands, was founded in 1927 by textile industry Baron Jan Bernard Van Heek. He donated his own private collection and the museum building to the government, thus making it a national museum. The museum is situated in the quarter of Roombeek, 10 minutes on foot north-east from the railway station. It has a small gift shop and a cafe, but only poor car parking facilities, so visitors are advised not to come by car.
Oele
Oele is a population centre in the municipality Hengelo in the Dutch province of Overijssel. It is located south-west of Hengelo, south of the Twentekanaal. The highway A35 and the Provincial road 739|N739 (the road from Hengelo to Beckum and Haaksbergen) are close to the population centre. Until the creation of the municipality of Hengelo, Oele was part of the richterambt Delden.

The built-up area of the town was 0.33 km², and contained 299 residences. The statistical area "Zenderen", which also can include the peripheral parts of the village, as well as the surrounding countryside, has a population of around 1320.

Basilica of St Plechelm
The basilica of St Plechelm is a Roman Catholic church in the Dutch town of Oldenzaal dedicated to the 8th century Irish monk Saint Plechelm, whose festival on 15 July has been on the calendar of the medieval diocese of Utrecht ever since his canonisation in the 10th century. This festival is still celebrated annually at the basilica, and the saint's 1050th anniversary was celebrated there in 2004. The pope granted it the title of minor basilica in 1950.
Roombeek
Roombeek is a working-class suburb of the Dutch city of Enschede. It made international headlines due to the Enschede fireworks warehouse disaster (Dutch, "Vuurwerkramp") on May 13, 2000. The warehouse explosion in Roombeek caused 23 deaths, and wounded 947 people. Around 400 homes were destroyed, and 1500 were seriously damaged by the fireworks explosion. Prior, there were already plans for a major renovation of the district.
Fanny Blankers-Koen Stadion
Fanny Blankers-Koen Stadion is a multi-use stadium in Hengelo, Netherlands. It is currently used mostly for athletics meets, especially the annual Fanny Blankers-Koen Games. It holds 15,200 people and is named after the Dutch athlete, Fanny Blankers-Koen. The stadium was originally known as Stadion Veldwijk, but changed to its current name in 1981.

The Bataafs Lyceum is a public high school in Hengelo, The Netherlands. The Bataafs Lyceum is part of a public school division called the Openbare Scholengemeenschap Hengelo. The building is located at the Sloetsweg, next to the Montessori College Twente. In 2008 the Bataafs Lyceum decided to drop the VMBO education level in order to change its name from Bataafse Kamp to Bataafs Lyceum. In 2008 the Bataafs Lyceum had about 950 students. The school teaches havo and vwo.
Carelshaven
Carelshaven is a restaurant and hotel located in Delden, Netherlands. It has a fine dining restaurant that was awarded one Michelin star in the period 1973-1986. GaultMillau awarded the restaurant 11.0 out of 20 points, signalling it as an honest to interesting restaurant. De building in which Carelshaven is housed, is originally built in 1772. It was built as an inn, to serve travellers along the Twickelervaart (canal), who often stopped for the night in the small harbour.
Het Koetshuis Schuttersveld
Het Koetshuis Schuttersveld is a former restaurant located in Enschede, Netherlands. It was a fine dining restaurant that was awarded one Michelin star in the period 1987-2001. Owner and head chef Fred Böhnke closed the restaurant in February 2009, after 32 year. He cited the smoking ban and the recession as the reason for his demise of the restaurant. Böhnke followed the advice of his bank and closed the restaurant before going bankrupt.
