Artis
Artis, short for Natura Artis Magistra (Latin for "Nature is the teacher of art"), is a zoo in the centre of Amsterdam. It is the oldest zoo in the Netherlands. In addition to the zoo, Artis has an aquarium, a planetarium, a geological museum, and a zoological museum. Magere Brug
The Magere Brug ("Skinny Bridge") is a bridge over the river Amstel in the city centre of Amsterdam. It connects the banks of the river at Kerkstraat (Church Street), between Keizersgracht (Emperors' Canal) and Prinsengracht (Princes' Canal). The central section of the Magere Brug is a bascule bridge made of white-painted wood. The present bridge was built in 1934. The first bridge at this site was built in 1691 as Kerkstraatbrug and had 13 arches.
Oosterpark (Amsterdam)
The Oosterpark in Amsterdam is the first large park laid out by the municipality of Amsterdam. The park is located in the Oost/Watergraafsmeer borough and forms a component of the Oosterpark area. The park, an English garden, was designed by Dutch landscape architect Leonard Anthony Springer and was laid out in 1891.

The Pieter Nieuwland College is a secondary school in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, in the district Watergraafsmeer. The school is named after Pieter Nieuwland. It is a school of further education with the directions Gymnasium, VWO and HAVO. There were in 2009, 835 students, 42% in the first two grades. The school is growing. It is a multicultural school with good results. The school is part of the Amarantis Working Group. From this school a new Gymnasium was started, the Cygnus Gymnasium.
De Schreeuw
De Schreeuw (the Cry) is a memorial that remembers the assassinated Dutch filmmaker/regisseur Theo van Gogh. Theo van Gogh was assassinated on 2 November 2004 in the Linnaeusstraat in Amsterdam, just a few steps away from the Oosterpark. The assassin was the Muslim extremist Mohammed Bouyeri. The Cry, translation of "de Schreeuw", is "a powerful symbol of the freedom of speech", an official of the Amsterdam administration Martin Verbeet said.
Hogeschool van Amsterdam
The Hogeschool van Amsterdam, University of Applied Sciences (HvA), or Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences, is one of the largest institutes for higher professional education in the Netherlands. The HvA mainly offers bachelor degree programmes, but also has a number of (professional) master degree programmes. For students from the HvA's international partner institutes it is possible to study at the HvA as an exchange student.
Sarphatipark
The Sarphatipark is a public urban park located in the stadsdeel Amsterdam Oud-Zuid in Amsterdam, Netherlands. The park is named after Samuel Sarphati. In 1942, the park was renamed "Bollandpark" after G.J.P.J. Bolland, because Samuel Sarphati was a Jew. The old name was restored after the war in 1945. The Dutch painter Samuel Schwarz and his wife Else Berg lived adjacent to the park from 1927 until their deportation to, and execution at, the Auschwitz concentration camp in 1942.
Amsterdam University College
Amsterdam University College (AUC) is a public liberal arts college in the Netherlands with an enrollment of about 700 students. The college was founded in 2009 as a joint initiative of the VU University and the University of Amsterdam with a particular focus on the natural sciences. Although AUC has its own campus, students can also use facilities of both parent universities.
Rembrandt Tower
Rembrandt Tower is an office skyscraper in Amsterdam. It has a height of 135 metres, 35 floors and it has a spire which extends its height to 149.85 metres. It was constructed from 1991 to 1994. The building's foundation required piles 56 metres long and two metres in diameter. It is the first building in the Netherlands constructed with a concrete core and a steel frame.
InterContinental Amstel Amsterdam
The InterContinental Amstel Amsterdam Hotel or Amstel Hotel is a five-star hotel in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, on the east bank of the river Amstel. In 2007 it was the only hotel in the Netherlands on the list of World's Best Hotels. It was ranked in 90th place. The Amstel Hotel is part of the InterContinental Hotels chain. In 2006 the building was sold to Morgan Stanley.

De Pijp (The Pipe) is a neighborhood of Amsterdam, Netherlands. The Pijp is located directly south of Amsterdam's city centre and it is part of the borough 'Amsterdam-Zuid'. Most street names in the Pijp are named after Dutch painters, like Jan Steen, Frans Hals, Ruysdael and Vincent van Gogh. The most famous and busiest street market of the Netherlands, the Albert Cuyp Market, is in the Pijp. It is open six days per week and attracts a lot of tourists.

In the Amsterdam Rivierenbuurt, a hallmark building is the studio complex at the Zomerdijkstraat. A classified monument, the building was designed by the functionalist architects P. Zanstra, J.H.L. Giesen en K.L. Sijmons. The building is a pivotal work in Dutch architecture of the early thirties. The architects were members of "Groep 32", strongly inspired by the work of Le Corbusier.
