Olympic Stadium (Amsterdam)

The Olympic Stadium was built as the main stadium for the 1928 Summer Olympics in Amsterdam. The first event at the stadium was the start of the 1928 Olympic hockey tournament on 17 May 1928. When completed, the stadium had a capacity of 31,600. Following the completion of the rival De Kuip stadium in Rotterdam in 1937, the Amsterdam authorities increased the capacity of the Olympic Stadium to 64,000 by adding a second ring to the stadium.

Bosbaan

The Bosbaan is a rowing lake situated in the Amsterdamse Bos (Amsterdam Woods) in Amstelveen, The Netherlands. Amstelveen is a municipality and a town in the Netherlands and is part of the metropolitan area of Amsterdam. Confusingly, all built structures at the north-eastern end of the course fall under jurisdiction of the city of Amsterdam. The Bosbaan is the oldest artificial rowing course in the world.

Slotervaart (former borough)

Slotervaart is a former stadsdeel of Amsterdam, it has 48.540 inhabitants (2008) and an area of 11.14 km². As of 2010, Slotervaart is part of the newly formed stadsdeel Nieuw-West. Slotervaart has a significant immigrant population; 33% of the inhabitants are from Morocco, 21% are from Turkey, and 5% are from Suriname. In 2007, Slotervaart youngsters burned cars and threw stones at the police after a stabbing accident at the Allebeplein, where the police killed a Moroccan boy.

ING House
