De Wallen
De Wallen or De Walletjes is the largest and best known red-light district in Amsterdam and a major tourist attraction. It is located in the heart of the oldest part of the city, covering several blocks south of the church Oude Kerk and crossed by several canals. De Wallen consists of a network of alleys containing approximately three hundred tiny one-room cabins rented by prostitutes who offer their sexual services from behind a window or glass door, typically illuminated with red lights.
Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences
The Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences is an organization dedicated to the advancement of science and literature in the Netherlands. The Academy is housed at the Trippenhuis in Amsterdam. In addition to various advisory and administrative functions it operates a number of research institutes and awards many prizes, including the Lorentz Medal in theoretical physics, the Leeuwenhoek Medal in microbiology, and the Dr. A.H. Heineken Prizes.
Beurs van Berlage
The Beurs van Berlage is a building on the Damrak, in the center of Amsterdam. It was designed as a commodity exchange by architect Hendrik Petrus Berlage and constructed between 1896 and 1903. It influenced many modernist architects, in particular functionalists and the Amsterdam School. It is now used as a venue for concerts, exhibitions and conferences. The building is constructed of red brick, with an iron and glass roof and stone piers, lintels and corbels.
Damrak
The Damrak is a partially filled in canal at the centre of Amsterdam, between Amsterdam Centraal railway station and Dam Square, running north-south. It is the main street where people arriving at the station enter the centre of Amsterdam. Also it is one of the two GVB tram routes from the station into the centre, with lines 4, 9, 16, 24, and 25 running down it.
Nieuwmarkt
Nieuwmarkt ("New market") is a square in the centre of the Dutch capital Amsterdam. The surrounding area is known as the Nieuwmarktbuurt (Nieuwmarkt district). The square is located in Amsterdam's Chinatown, next to the De Wallen. There are over 20 cafés and coffeeshops facing the square. There is a daily market on the square, as well as an organic food market on Saturdays and a market for antiques and books on Sundays in the summer months.

The 800 year old Oude Kerk ("old church") is Amsterdam’s oldest building and oldest parish church, founded ca. 1213 and finally consecrated in 1306 by the bishop of Utrecht with Saint Nicolas as its patron saint.
Zuiderkerk
The Zuiderkerk ("southern church") is a 17th Century Protestant church in the Nieuwmarkt area of Amsterdam, The Netherlands. The church played an important part in the life of Rembrandt and was the subject of a painting by Claude Monet. The Zuiderkerk was the city's first church built specifically for Protestant services. It was constructed between 1603 and 1611 and stands on the Zuiderkerkhof ("Southern Graveyard") square near the Sint Antoniesbreestraat.
Basilica of St. Nicholas, Amsterdam
The Basilica of St. Nicholas (or Sint-Nicolaasbasiliek in Dutch) is located in the Old Centre district of Amsterdam, Netherlands. It is the city's major Catholic church. Officially the church was called St. Nicholas inside the Walls, i.e. the oldest part of the Amsterdam defence works. The architect, Adrianus Bleijs (1842-1912) designed the church basing himself on a combination of several revival styles of which Neo-Baroque and neo-Renaissance are the most prominent models.
Sint Antoniesbreestraat
The Sint Antoniesbreestraat ("St. Anthony's Broad Street") is a street in the centre of Amsterdam in the Netherlands. The street runs south from Nieuwmarkt square to the Sint Antoniesluis sluice gates. Today, Sint Antoniesbreestraat is primarily a shopping street with a variety of specialty shops. At the corner of Sint Antoniesbreestraat and Hoogstraat is an entry to the Nieuwmarkt stop of the Amsterdam Metro system.
Warmoesstraat
Warmoesstraat is one of the oldest streets in Amsterdam, running parallel to the river Amstel from Amsterdam Centraal railway station to Dam Square. Its origins are in the 13th century. In the 16th and 17th century it was the shopping street. The poet Joost van den Vondel sold silk stockings here. Today, the busy Warmoesstraat has a variety shops, bars, restaurants, cheap hotels, coffee shops and sex boutiques. The Prostitution Information Center is also located there.
Café ‘t Mandje
Café ‘t Mandje is a bar in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. It is located in Zeedijk street, and is considered to be the first gay bar in the Netherlands and one of the first in the world. It was opened in 1927 by Bet van Beeren, herself a lesbian. The Amsterdams Historisch Museum holds the replica of ‘t Mandje.
Oost-Indisch Huis
The Oost-Indisch Huis (Dutch for "East India House") is an early 17th-century building in the centre of Amsterdam. It was a headquarters of the Dutch East India Company (Vereenigde Oostindische Compagnie or VOC). The building served as the headquarters of the Amsterdam chamber (Kamer) of the East India Company. The 20 regents of the Amsterdam chamber met here.
Oudekerksplein
The Oudekerksplein ("Old Church's Square") is a square in the centre of Amsterdam. It is named after the 14th-century church Oude Kerk which dominates the square. The Oudekerksplein is wedged between the Warmoesstraat street and Oudezijds Voorburgwal canal. From the square, the Oudekerksburg bridge crosses the Oudezijds Voorburgwal canal and continues eastwards, through the Oudekennissteeg and Molensteeg alleys, towards the Oudezijds Achterburgwal and Zeedijk.

According to the museum, more than two million visitors have visited the exhibition since it opened in 1985. Restaurant Vermeer
Restaurant Vermeer is a restaurant located in the NH Barbizon Palace hotel at the Prins Hendrikkade in Amsterdam, Netherlands. It is a fine dining restaurant that received its first Michelin star in 1993. It later lost and regained its star, then scored two stars in 2003. The restaurant occupies (parts of) four of the nineteen 17th century houses and fifteenth-century chapel that make up the NH Barbizon Palace hotel.
Nam Kee

The Zeedijk is a street in the old centre of Amsterdam. The street is located from the Prins Hendrikkade to the Nieuwmarkt. The Zeedijk is the heart of Chinatown, the Chinese neighbourhood of Amsterdam. Historically an area riddled with crime and drug addicts, the area went through a revitalization and is now a hub for Chinatown where locals come to eat at Vietnamese, Thai and Chinese restaurants.
Trippenhuis
The Trippenhuis has been the seat of the Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences (KNAW) since 1887. It was originally built in the years 1660-1662 for the wealthy Amsterdam weapons dealers Louis and Hendrick Trip, and many attributes of weaponry can be seen in the facade.
Wijnkopersgildehuis (Amsterdam)
The Wijnkopersgildehuis ("Wine buyers' guildhall") is a former guildhall in Amsterdam. The 17th-century double house is located at Koestraat 10-12, near Nieuwmarkt square. It is one of the few remaining guildhalls in Amsterdam and has the oldest known neck-gables. The building has rijksmonument status. The guildhall is owned by the historic preservation society Vereniging Hendrick de Keyser. The building served as a museum for a number of years during the second half of the 20th century.
Waag (Amsterdam)
The Waag is a 15th-century building on Nieuwmarkt square in Amsterdam. It was originally a city gate and part of the walls of Amsterdam. The building has also served as a guildhall, museum, fire station and anatomical theatre, among others. The Waag is the oldest remaining non-religious building in Amsterdam. The building has held rijksmonument status since 1970. The Waag is depicted in Rembrandt's 1632 painting The Anatomy Lesson of Dr. Nicolaes Tulp.
Kloveniersburgwal, Amsterdam
Kloveniersburgwal is an Amsterdam canal flowing south from Nieuwmarkt to the Amstel River on the edge of the medieval city, lying east of the dam in the centre of Amsterdam.
