Langweer
Langweer is a small Dutch town in Friesland in the municipality Scharsterland. The town was established in 1256, and has a population of 964 (as of January 1, 2004). Langweer has a rich trading history, and it's located at a small lake. Langweer used to only be reached by water. It was backed by swampland. In 1856 it became connected to the outside world by the Brédyk via Sint Nicolaasga. Johan Vegelinsoord of Claerbergen organized this work which involved treeplanting and drainage.

It is located east of Langweer on the south east shore of the lake called Langweerder Wielen. The name is derived from two words, boarn meaning water and sweach meaning pasture. Prior to the municipal reorganization in 1984, it was in the municipality of Doniawerstal. A canal called Scharsterrijn lies to the north east of the village.

De Sweachmermolen is a smock mill between Langweer and Boornzwaag, Friesland, Netherlands which was built in 1782. The mill has two functions: it is a drainage mill and a corn mill. It has been restored to working order as a drainage mill and is listed as a Rijksmonument, number 13241.
De Geeuwpoldermolen, Oppenhuizen
The Geeuwpoldermolen (or Geau's Mole in Frisian) is a drainage mill near the twin village of Oppenhuizen, Friesland, Netherlands. It is a hollow post windmill of the type called spinnenkop by the Dutch. The mill is listed as a Rijksmonument, number 39810 and it is still in use for draining the Geeuwpolder. It was almost completely renewed at a restoration in 1987, earlier restorations were in 1954 and 1965.
