Zuid-Willemsvaart
The Zuid-Willemsvaart [zœytˈʋɪləmsfaːrt zœytˈʋɪləmsfaːrt] ("South Willem's Canal") is a canal in the southern Netherlands, providing a shortcut in river Meuse between the cities of Maastricht and 's-Hertogenbosch. The canal was named after King William I of the Netherlands, with "South" added to avoid confusion with two other canals commissioned by and named after the King: the Willemsvaart near Zwolle and the Noord-Willemskanaal in the province of Groningen.
Maastricht University
Maastricht University (officially abbreviated as UM) is a public university in Maastricht, the Netherlands. Founded in 1976, the university is the second youngest in the Netherlands. The university's founding name was Rijksuniversiteit Limburg and was changed into Universiteit Maastricht in 1996. Since 2008 the name is Maastricht University, which the university claims will emphasize the international character.
Jeker
The Jeker is a river in Belgium and in the Netherlands. It is a leftbank tributary to the river Meuse. The source of the Jeker is situated near the village of Geer in the Belgian province of Liège. The river is about 54 kilometers (33,5 miles) long, of which 50 kilometers in Belgium, and 4 km in the Netherlands, where it flows into the river Meuse at Maastricht (Netherlands). Places through which the Jeker passes are among others Waremme, Tongeren, Kanne, (all three in Belgium) and Maastricht.

The Siege of Maastricht was one of the key elements in King Louis XIV's plans to attack the Netherlands, in order to revenge the humiliating conditions enforced on him by the Triple Alliance when he tried to fully conquer the Spanish Netherlands. After making a feint for Ghent and Brussels, Louis marched his army past Maastricht, a condominium of the United Provinces and the Bishopric of Liège, in May 1672, not bothering to take the fortress.

The Maastricht Academy of Music, Dutch: Conservatorium Maastricht, located in the city of Maastricht, is one of nine music academies in the Netherlands. The academy is a faculty of the Zuyd University of Applied Sciences (Hogeschool Zuyd in Dutch) for the Bachelor programme and the "Zuid Nederlandse Hogeschool voor Muziek" for the Master programme, in co-operation with the Fontys Academy of Music, academy of Music of the Fontys University of Applied Sciences.
Borgharen

Onze-Lieve-Vrouweplein
The Onze-Lieve-Vrouweplein ("Square of Our Lady") is a square in the historic center of Maastricht, The Netherlands. The Onze-Lieve-Vrouweplein was originally named Onze-Lieve-Vrouwekerkhof, because it was the churchyard of the Basilica of Our Lady and the neighboring Saint Nicholas Church (demolished in 1838). In 1986 remains of a 2nd century AD enclosed shrine and the remnants of a tower and parts of the walls of the former Roman castrum, dating back to ca. 313 AD, were discovered.

Sint-Lambertuskerk (Maastricht)
The Sint-Lambertuskerk is a church in Maastricht, Limburg, Netherlands. Built between 1914 and 1916, the church was named after the Maastricht-born saint Lambert. At the time of its completion, it was the first church outside the old city wall. The church was designed by Hubert van Groenendael in neo-Romanesque style on a cruciform plan. The church was initially operated as a Roman Catholic parish church. Soon after its completion in 1916, subsidence cracks developed in the structure.
