Hoensbroek is a Dutch town in the municipality of Heerlen. It is situated in the southeast of Limburg, a province in the southeast of the Netherlands. Until 1982, Hoensbroek was a separate municipality. Hoensbroek is known for its medieval castle, Kasteel Hoensbroek, named after Knight Hoen, a member of the Hoen Family. It dates from around 1250. Hoensbroek is also known for the fair on Ascension Day. (Hemelvaartsdag) brings as many as 100,000 people every year to Hoensbroek.

Joint Force Command Brunssum (JFC-B) is the NATO military command based in Brunssum, Netherlands. JFC-B reports to Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers Europe (SHAPE) based at Casteau, Belgium. It is one of three operational level commands in the NATO command structure, the others being Allied Joint Force Command Naples, Italy and Allied Joint Command Lisbon, Portugal. JFC-B also serves as the NATO higher headquarters for the International Security Assistance Force in Afghanistan.
Oirsbeek
Oirsbeek is a village in the southeast of the Netherlands, part of the municipality of Schinnen. Between 1839 and 1982, Oirsbeek was a separate municipality. Oirsbeek has about 4000 inhabitants. The Sint Lambertuskerk, a Roman Catholic Church, was built in 1951 by Frits Peutz on the remains of two older churches: the original church built in 1514 and a second church built in 1830. It is unknown where the name Oirsbeek originates from.

Besides being in a state of disrepair all almost all original elements remain. Currently it is being restored, restoringcost around 3,500,000 euros

Tervoorst
Tervoorst, known as Tervoeësj in Limburgish, is a hamlet in the municipality of Nuth in the province of Limburg, the Netherlands. The hamlet contains approximately sixty houses, located in a linear pattern along the Voorsterstraat and the Horenweg, which run from the village of Nuth until the hamlet Brand. The Platsbeek river flows to the north of the settlement. In the south there is a hill supporting the nearby Hunnecum hamlet's windmill as well as houses situated on its slopes.

Sintermeertencollege is a comprehensive school in Heerlen, the Netherlands, established in 1967. The school was founded by the Bernardinuscollege as a dependence school for the Bernardinuscollege in Heerlen-west Netherlands. The school expanded in the 1980s with the Clara Mavo (vocational education) and merged with Coriovallum College in 1990. In 1993 Sintermeertencollege moved to a new premises at Valkenburgerweg 219 in Heerlen, a modern 3 storey building.

Castle Hoensbroek or Gebrookhoes (Castle Gebrook) is one of the largest castles in the Netherlands. It is situated in Hoensbroek, a town in the province of Limburg. This imposing watercastle is known as 'the most lordly stronghold between Rhine and Meuse'. The oldest part of the castle, notably the tall round tower, dates from around 1360, when it was built by Herman Hoen, though a predecessor to the castle had already existed in the swamp (or Gebrook) the castle was located in.
