University of Yangon
Yangon University (formerly Rangoon College, Rangoon University and Rangoon Arts and Sciences University), located in Kamayut, Yangon, is the oldest and most well-known university in Myanmar. The university offers mainly graduate degree (master's, post-graduate diploma and doctorate) programmes in liberal arts, sciences and law. Full-time bachelor's degree have not been offered at the university's main campus since the student protests of 1996.
University of Medicine 1, Yangon
The University of Medicine 1, Yangon (formerly the Institute of Medicine 1), located in Yangon, is the oldest medical school in Myanmar. The university offers M.B. ,B.S. (equivalent of the M.D. ) degrees and graduate (diploma, master's and doctoral) degrees in medical science. The university is perhaps the most selective university in the country, and admits approximately 600 students annually based solely on their college matriculation exam scores.
Yangon Institute of Economics
The Yangon Institute of Economics is the premier university of economics and business in Myanmar. Founded as the Department of Economics of Yangon University in 1924, the institute became an independent university of higher learning in 1964. The institute offers undergraduate and graduate degrees and diplomas, mostly in commerce, statistics and economics. It is also the primary business school in the country, offering full-time, executive and online MBA degrees.
Practising School Yangon Institute of Education
The Practising High School, Yangon Institute of Education (commonly abbreviated TTC Yangon) is a high school in Yangon, Myanmar. TTC stands for Teachers' Training College, which is now Institute of Education. Although it is a "high school" in the technical sense, TTC's student body comprises students from Grade I (formerly Kindergarten) to Grade Eleven (formerly Tenth Standard) or Matriculation, the highest standard in Myanmar education system.
Yangon Institute of Marine Technology
The Yangon Institute of Marine Technology (IMT),, located in Yangon, Myanmar, is a public institute offering mainly two-year diplomas in mercantile nautical technologies. The institute also offers four-year bachelor's degrees and post-graduate diplomas in select fields. The institute aims to "train seafarers to become internationally recognized marine personnel, so that they can be employed onboard vessels owned by national and foreign shipping companies".
Workers' College
Workers' College was an affiliated college of Yangon University. The college, located in Botataung in eastern Yangon, offered undergraduate programs in liberal arts, sciences and law mostly to part-time students. Since 2004, the campus of Workers' College has been turned into the newly created National Management University of Myanmar.
Basic Education High School No. 2 Sanchaung
Basic Education High School No. 2 Sanchaung (Burmese: အခြေခံ ပညာ အထက်တန်း ကျောင်း အမှတ် စမ်းချောင်း; abbreviated to အ. ထ. က. စမ်းချောင်း) (commonly known as Sanchaung 2 High School or St. Philomena's High School), located in Sanchaung township, is a public high school in Yangon. The mostly-girls school offers classes from kindergarten to Tenth Standard (or Grade 1 through Grade 11 in the new nomenclature).
National Highway 1 (Burma)
National Highway 1 (NR1), literally "The Road to Mandalay ") is an important south-north flowing highway of central Burma and the busiest road in the country. It connects Yangon to Meiktila where it joins the National Highway 4 going east and then NR1 continues north to Mandalay.
