Sittwe
Sittwe is the capital of Rakhine State, Myanmar (Burma). Sittwe, pronounced site-tway in the Rakhine language, is located on an estuarial island created at the confluence of the Kaladan, Mayu, and Lay Mro rivers emptying into the Bay of Bengal. The city has 181,000 inhabitants (2006). it is the administrative seat of Sittwe Township and Sittwe District.
Sittwe Airport
Sittwe Airport is an airport in Sittwe, Rakhine State, Burma. It started as a military used arifield in World War II. It was handed over to Department of Civil Aviation by International Aero Limited Company on 24 July 1947. It was upgraded to 6,000 feet long and 140 feet wide gravel mixed asphalt runway in 1960. The airport building was extended to 220 feet by 60 feet from 120 feet by 60 feet and it was opened on 22 March 2002.

HMIS Indus (U67)
HMIS Indus was a Grimsby-class sloop of the Royal Indian Navy launched in 1934 and sunk during the Second World War in 1942. She was a slightly enlarged version of other vessels in the Grimsby class. She was named after the Indus River. Indus served mainly as an escort vessel, and she was therefore lightly armed. Her pennant number was changed to U67 in 1940.
Lemro River
The Lemro is a river of Burma flowing through Chin State and Rakhine State. It flows into the Indian Ocean east of Sittwe. Between the eleventh and fifteenth centuries, small walled settlements were built by the Arakanese people along the river bank. The Lemro valley is noted for its rock art from these settlers.

Technological University (Sittwe) is located in RaChanByin Village, Sittwe Township, Sittwe District, Rakhine State, Myanmar. It formerly operated as a Government Technical College (GTC). It moved to RaChanByin Village and expanded to University level on 20 January 2007.
