Burma
Burma, also known as Myanmar, is a sovereign state in Southeast Asia bordered by China, Thailand, India, Laos and Bangladesh. One-third of Burma's total perimeter of 1,930 kilometres forms an uninterrupted coastline along the Bay of Bengal and the Andaman Sea. Its population of over 60 million makes it the world's 24th most populous country and, at 676,578 km (261,227 sq mi), it is the world's 40th largest country and the second largest in Southeast Asia.
Mandalay Palace
The Mandalay Palace, located in Mandalay, Myanmar, is the last royal palace of the last Burmese monarchy. The palace was constructed, between 1857 and 1859 as part of King Mindon's founding of the new royal capital city of Mandalay. The plan of Mandalay Palace largely follows the traditional Burmese palace design, inside a walled fort surrounded by a moat. The palace itself is at the centre of the citadel and faces east. All buildings of the palace are of one storey in height.

Mandalay Hill
Mandalay Hill is a 240 metre (790 ft) hill that is located to the northeast of the city centre of Mandalay in Burma. The city took its name from the hill. Mandalay Hill is known for its abundance of pagodas and monasteries, and has been a major pilgrimage site for Burmese Buddhists for nearly two centuries. At the top of the hill is the Sutaungpyei (literally wish-fulfilling) Pagoda.

Kuthodaw Pagoda
Kuthodaw Pagoda (literally Royal Merit, and formally titled Mahalawka Marazein မဟာလောကမာရဇိန်စေတီ) is a Buddhist stupa, located in Mandalay, Burma (Myanmar), that contains the world's largest book. It lies at the foot of Mandalay Hill and was built during the reign of King Mindon. The stupa itself, which is gilded above its terraces, is 188 feet high, and is modelled after the Shwezigon Pagoda at Nyaung-U near Bagan.
World's largest book
The world's largest book stands upright, set in stone, in the grounds of the Kuthodaw pagoda (kuthodaw, "royal merit") at the foot of Mandalay Hill in Mandalay, Myanmar (Burma). It has 730 leaves and 1460 pages; each page is 107 centimetres wide, 153 centimetres tall and 13 centimetres thick.

Mandalay District

Bahtoo Stadium
Bahtoo Memorial Stadium is a multi-purpose stadium, located in downtown Mandalay, Myanmar. The 17,000 seat stadium is the largest stadium in Upper Myanmar, and the home stadium of Yadanabon FC of the Myanmar National League (MNL). The stadium is the Upper Myanmar venue for MNL Cup football matches. Bahtoo Stadium also hosts other local and regional football tournaments. It was the venue for the 2006 Myanmar Grand Royal Challenge Cup, an international football tournament.
University of Dental Medicine, Mandalay
The University of Dental Medicine, Mandalay, is a university of dental medicine, located in Mandalay, Myanmar. The university offers a six-year bachelor's degree program in dental surgery. Graduate and doctoral studies are available only at the University of Dental Medicine, Yangon. The annual intake into both dental universities is 300.
University of Computer Studies, Mandalay
The University of Computer Studies, Mandalay (UCSM), located in Mandalay, is a leading IT and computer science university of Myanmar. UCSM offers bachelor's and master's degree programs in computer science and technology. The majority of its student body is from Upper Myanmar. Administered by the Ministry of Science and Technology, UCSM is the official university for all the Government Computer Colleges in Upper Myanmar, whose students may continue their studies at UCSM.
Mandalay Institute of Nursing
The Mandalay Institute of Nursing is a university of nursing, located in Mandalay, Myanmar. It is one of three universities in the nation that offers a four-year bachelor's degree program in nursing. The institute also offers a master's degree program in nursing. The institute, which admits only 100 students per year, is one of the more selective universities in the nation. Nursing is one of few professions in Myanmar that provides decent job opportunities—inside or outside the country.
Mandalay Central Railway Station
Mandalay Central Railway Station, located in downtown Mandalay, is one of the largest rail stations in Myanmar. The station is Upper Myanmar's gateway to the 3,126-mile (5,031 km) national rail network. It is the terminus of the main rail line from Yangon and the starting point of branch lines to Pyin U Lwin (Maymyo), Lashio, Monywa, Pakokku, Kalay, Gangaw, and to the north, Shwebo, Kawlin, Naba, Kanbalu, Mohnyin, Hopin, Mogaung and Myitkyina.
University of Culture, Mandalay
The University of Culture, Mandalay,, located in Patheingyi, Mandalay, is one of two performing and visual arts universities in Myanmar. The university offers bachelor's degree programs in traditional Burmese performing and visual arts. Qualified students may continue post-graduate studies at the University of Culture, Yangon. The university's primary language of instruction is in English, and it accepts foreign students.
University of Medical Technology, Mandalay
The University of Medical Technology, Mandalay is one of two universities of medical technology in Myanmar. Located on a 17.63-acre campus in Patheingyi, Mandalay, the university offers four-year Bachelor of Medical Technology (BMTech) degree programs in medical laboratory technology, physiotherapy and radiography and medical imaging technology. The university accepts approximately 150 students annually.
Yadanabon Zoological Gardens
The Yadanabon Zoological Gardens is a zoo in Mandalay, Myanmar. The zoo has nearly 300 animals, including tigers, leopards and elephants, and plays a major part in the conservation program for the highly threatened Burmese roofed turtle (Batagur trivittata). According to a March 2011 report by a Yangon-based news magazine, the zoo reportedly is under consideration for privatization.

Mingun Pahtodawgyi
The Mingun Pahtodawgyi is a monumental incompleted stupa in Mingun, approximately 10 kilometers northwest of Mandalay in Sagaing Region in central Burma (Myanmar). The ruins are the remains of a massive construction project begun by King Bodawpaya in 1790 which was intentionally left unfinished. The pahtodawgyi is seen as the physical manifestations of the well known eccentricities of Bodawpaya.
