Taungoo
Taungoo is a city in the Bago Region of Myanmar, located 220 km from Yangon, towards the northeastern end of the division, with mountain ranges to both east and west. The main industry is in forestry products, with teak and other hardwoods extracted from the mountains. The city is also known for its areca palms, to the extent that a Burmese proverb for unexpected good fortune is equated to a "betel lover winning a trip to Taungoo".
Battle of Tachiao
Battle of Tachiao (March 18–19, 1942), was the first clash in the Battle of Yunnan-Burma Road in the Burma Campaign of World War II and Second Sino-Japanese War. Advanced elements of the 200th Division arrived at Toungoo on March 8, 1942 and took over defensive positions from the British forces. The city of Toungoo itself would be the main defensive position of the Chinese forces, with an outpost a few kilometers to the south at Oktwin.
National Highway 5 (Burma)
National Highway 5 (NR5) is a highway of southern-central Burma. It connects Taungoo to Hopong, east of Taunggyi. The highway is fed by the National Highway 1 at Taungoo at {{#invoke:Coordinates|coord}}{{#coordinates:18|56|31|N|96|26|36|E| | |name= }}. It initially goes in the northeast-east direction and then southeast until just south of the town of Hpasawng when the highway forks to the north at {{#invoke:Coordinates|coord}}{{#coordinates:18|49|37|N|97|18|53|E| | |name= }}.

No.5 State High School, Taungoo is a school located in Taungoo, Bago Division, Myanmar. It is formerly known Paku Karen High School runs by Paku Karen Baptist Association. In 1965, the school was nationalized and become No.5 State High School, Taungoo. The school is situated on Myogyi Road. The school has 80 full-time teachers and 1,000 students. The school offers a variety of sports for both girls and boys to compete in varsity and junior varsity levels.
