Geography of Moldova
Located in southeastern Europe, Moldova is bordered on the west by Romania and on the north, south, and east by Ukraine. Most of its territory lies between the area's two main rivers, the Dniester and the Prut. The Dniester forms a small part of Moldova's border with Ukraine in the northeast and southeast, but it mainly flows through the eastern part of the country, separating Bessarabia and Transnistria. The Prut River forms Moldova's entire western boundary with Romania.

Chișinău
Chișinău (historically also known as Kishinev, from Russian: Кишинёв) is the capital and largest city of Moldova. It is also its main industrial and commercial centre, and is located in the middle of the country, on the river Bîc. According to January 2012 official estimates, Chișinău proper has a population of 667,600 and the municipality of Chișinău is home to 800.600 residents. Chișinău is the most economically prosperous locality in Moldova, and its largest transportation hub.

Chișinău Botanical Garden
The Chișinău Botanical Garden of the Academy of Sciences of Moldova was founded in 1950 by the Russian Academy of Science. The garden is located in Chișinău, Botanica, Moldova and covers an area of 76 hectares. In 1973, a new botanical garden was established in the Botanica sector of Chișinău. Two years later, the garden was given the status of a Research Institute of the Academy of Sciences of Moldovan SSR. There are around ten thousand species of plants in the garden.
2008 Chişinău Antonov An-32 crash
A 12 April, 2008 Chişinău Antonov An-32 crash killed eight crew when a departing Sudanese cargo flight to Turkey turned back and crashed short of the runway. Early reports indicated that the Ukraine-built An-32 "Cline" had engine problems and turned back to Chişinău International Airport, Moldova. The flight from Vienna had refuelled and was bound for Khartoum, Sudan via Antalya, Turkey with a Moldovan crew of eight. The aircraft had undergone maintenance at Chişinău.

Tohatin is similar to other small Moldovan villages, with less than 200 dwellings. Because of its proximity to Chişinău, it has become a bedroom community.
