Sabratha

Sabratha, Sabratah or Siburata, in the Zawiya District in the northwestern corner of modern Libya, was the westernmost of the "three cities" of Tripolis. From 2001 to 2007 it was the capital of the former Sabratha wa Sorman District. It lies on the Mediterranean coast about 66 km west of Tripoli. The extant archaeological site was inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1982.

Sabratha wa Sorman was one of the districts of Libya from 2001 to 2007, in the Northwest. Since 2007 the area has been part of Zawiya District. In the north, Sabratha wa Sorman had a shoreline on the Mediterranean Sea. On land, it bordered the following districts: Zawiya - east Jafara - southeast, at a quadripoint Yafran - south Nuqat al Khams - west
