Moi Air Base
Moi Air Base, formerly known as RAF Eastleigh and Eastleigh Airport is a military airport located to the east of Nairobi, in the Eastleigh suburb. The airport is used by the Kenya Air Force. Additionally, the air base is the home of the East African School of Aviation run by the Kenya Civil Aviation Authority, which was established at the airport in 1954 as the DCA training school. The airport is also used to train Kenyan Air Cadets.

The stadium was originally known as African Stadium. then Renamed to Donholm Road Stadium. It was the principal stadium in Nairobi until the 1980s when Nyayo National Stadium and Moi International Sports Centre were built.

Opened in 2005, the Solar Ice Rink is the largest rink in Africa, and the first rink in East Africa and Central Africa. The rink cost US$700,000 to build. The rink covers an area of 1,400 square metres, and can accommodate 200 skaters.

Mukuru kwa Njenga is a slum in the East of Nairobi, the capital of Kenya. It belongs to Embakasi Constituency. It is one of the largest slums in Nairobi. Kenyan international footballer Patrick Oboya was born in Mukuru kwa Njenga. Among other major slums in Nairobi are Korogocho, Kibera and Mathare. The population of the slum exceeds 100,000. Kwa Njenga Primary School exists there. The Medical Missionary of Mary has a hospital there. There have been cholera deaths in 2009.
2011 Nairobi pipeline fire
The 2011 Nairobi pipeline fire was caused by an explosion secondary to a fuel spill in the Kenyan capital Nairobi on 12 September 2011. Approximately 100 people were killed in the fire and at least 116 others were hospitalized with varying degrees of burns. The incident was not the first such pipeline accident in Kenya, with the Molo fire of 2009 resulting in at least 133 fatalities and hundreds more injured.

Gor Mahia Football Club is a football club based in Nairobi, Kenya. It is one of the two most popular Kenyan football clubs. Gor Mahia have won 12 Kenyan Premier League titles, one less than archrivals A.F.C. Leopards who have been crowned champions 13 times. Gor Mahia have also won Ten FKF Cup titles. They are to date the only team from Kenya and the CECAFA region to win an African continental title, having won the African Cup Winners' Cup in 1987. after being finalists in 1979.
