National Diet
The National Diet is Japan's bicameral legislature. It is composed of a lower house, called the House of Representatives, and an upper house, called the House of Councillors. Both houses of the Diet are directly elected under a parallel voting system. In addition to passing laws, the Diet is formally responsible for selecting the Prime Minister. The Diet was first convened as the Imperial Diet in 1889 as a result of adopting the Meiji constitution.
House of Councillors
The House of Councillors is the upper house of the National Diet of Japan. The House of Representatives is the lower house. The House of Councillors is the successor to the pre-war House of Peers. If the two houses disagree on matters of the budget, treaties, or designation of the prime minister, the House of Representatives can insist on its decision.
House of Representatives (Japan)
The House of Representatives is the lower house of the National Diet of Japan. The House of Councillors is the upper house. The House of Representatives has 480 members, elected for a four-year term. Of these, 180 members are elected from 11 multi-member constituencies by a party-list system of proportional representation, and 300 are elected from single-member constituencies. 241 seats are required for majority.

The National Diet Library is the only national library in Japan. It was established in 1948 for the purpose of assisting members of the Diet of Japan/National Diet of Japan in researching matters of public policy. The library is similar in purpose and scope to the U.S. Library of Congress. The National Diet Library (NDL) consists of two main facilities in Tokyo and Kyoto, and several other branch libraries throughout Japan.
Nagatachō, Tokyo
Nagatachō, Tokyo is a district of Tokyo, Japan, located in Chiyoda Ward. It is the location of the Diet of Japan and the Prime Minister's residence. The Supreme Court of Japan is located in neighboring Hayabusachō. Nagatachō's name is often used to refer figuratively to the Japanese government, as opposed to Kasumigaseki which refers to the administration.

National Diet Building
The National Diet Building is the place where both houses of the Diet of Japan meet. It is located at 1-chome, Nagatachō, Chiyoda, Tokyo. Sessions of the House of Representatives take place in the left wing and sessions of the House of Councillors in the right wing. The Diet Building was completed in 1936 and is constructed purely out of Japanese building materials, with the exception of the stained glass, door locks, and pneumatic tube system.

The Supreme Court of Japan (最高裁判所 Saikō-Saibansho; called 最高裁 Saikō-Sai for short), located in Chiyoda, Tokyo is the highest court in Japan. It has ultimate judicial authority to interpret the Japanese constitution and decide questions of national law (including local bylaws). It has the power of judicial review; that is, it can declare Acts of Diet and Local Assembly, and administrative actions, to be unconstitutional.

New Otani
is a chain of hotels whose headquarters is in Chiyoda, Tokyo, Japan. The company opened on January 18, 1963. The main hotel in Tokyo opened in 1964, to coincide with the Tokyo Olympics of that year. Upon its opening, the building was the tallest building in Tokyo until 1968 when the Kasumigaseki Building was completed. It is known for its revolving restaurant atop the hotel and along with the New Otani Art Museum located on its sixth floor.

The New Otani Art Museum (ニューオータニ美術館) is an art museum founded in 1991 and housed on the sixth floor of the Hotel New Otani's Garden Court office building. The Hotel, located in Tokyo's Chiyoda Ward, opened in 1964 to coincide with the Tokyo Olympic Games. The museum's collections consist primarily of modern art from France and Japan, along with a considerable number of pieces of Japanese ukiyo-e art.

Kōjimachi
is a neighborhood in Chiyoda, Tokyo. Prior to the arrival of Tokugawa Ieyasu, it was known as Kōjimura . The area developed as townspeople settled along the Kōshū Kaidō. In 1878 Kōjimachi became a ward in the city of Tokyo. It was the forerunner of Chiyoda which is now a special ward. The Kōjimachi ward was larger than present day Kōjimachi.

This district is known as the location of the National Theatre of Japan and the Supreme Court of Japan.
