Tochigi Prefecture
Tochigi Prefecture is a prefecture located in the Kantō region on the island of Honshu, Japan. The capital is the city of Utsunomiya. Nikkō, whose ancient Shintō shrines and Buddhist temples UNESCO has recognized by naming them a World Heritage Site, is in this prefecture. Nikkō is approximately one hour by train from Tokyo, and approximately 35 km west of the capital Utsunomiya. Other famous parts of Tochigi include a region called Nasu known for onsen and local sake and ski resorts.
Kawachi, Tochigi
Kawachi, Tochigi was a town located in Kawachi District, Tochigi, Japan. On March 31, 2007 Kawachi, along with the town of Kamikawachi, also from Kawachi District, was merged into the expanded city of Utsunomiya. As of 2003, the town had an estimated population of 35,247 and a density of 738.62 persons per km². The total area was 47.72 square kilometers.

Ōya-ji
Ōya-ji is a Buddhist temple of the Tendai sect in the city of Utsunomiya, Tochigi Prefecture, Japan. According to legend, the temple was established by Kūkai, the founder of the Shingon sect, in the year 810, but this has not been firmly established. The temple was rebuilt during the years 1615 to 1624. The temple is built into the surrounding tuff rock and features a carved figure of the Bodhisattva Kannon with a thousand arms with a surrounding altar.

is a velodrome located in Utsunomiya, Tochigi that conducts pari-mutuel Keirin racing - one of Japan's four authorized "Public Sports" where gambling is permitted. Nicknamed "Kaze no Wonderland" (風のワンダーランド, Kaze no Uondarando, lit. The Wonderland of Wind), its Keirin identification number for betting purposes is 24# (24 sharp). Utsunomiya's oval is 500 meters in circumference. A typical keirin race of 2,025 meters consists of four laps around the course.
