Yatsuka District, Shimane
Yatsuka District, Shimane was a district located in Shimane, Japan. As of 2003, the district had an estimated population of 59,733 and a density of 169.95 persons per km². The total area was 351.47 km². Yatsuka district is notable for being the birthplace of sumo wrestler Jinmaku, the 12th Yokozuna in 1829. Yatsuka was known as Izumo Province at the time. Jinmaku is renowned for being the only wrestler never to lose a bout as Yokozuna.
Matsue Castle
is a feudal castle in Matsue in Shimane prefecture, Japan. Nicknamed the "black castle" or "plover castle", it is one of the few remaining medieval castles in Japan – at least of the few remaining in their original wooden form, and not a modern reconstruction in concrete. The construction of Matsue Castle began in 1607 and finished in 1611, under the local lord Horio Yoshiharu. In 1638, the fief and castle passed to the Matsudaira clan, a junior branch of the ruling Tokugawa clan.
Matsue Vogel Park
Shimane Vogel Park, or Matsue Vogel Park (松江フォーゲルパーク), is an aviary park in Shimane Prefecture, on the Sea of Japan. Amid pleasant green hills on the North shore of Lake Shinji, it has paved walkways between four aviaries holding tropical birds - mostly toucans, turacos, hornbills and ibises. The park is also home to various birds from around the world, including rare and exotic birds. There are also a number of waterfowl to be found in the aquatic birds aviary.
Lake Shinji
is a lake in the northeast area of the Shimane Prefecture in Japan. The lake is the seventh largest in Japan, with a circumference of 48 kilometres . It is enclosed by the Shimane Peninsula to the north, and the Izumo and Matsue plains to the west and east respectively. 7,652 ha of wetland are a Ramsar Site.

Matsue Station is a railway station on the Sanin Main Line of West Japan Railway Company (JR West) located in Matsue, Shimane Prefecture, Japan. Tickets can be purchased at the machines or in the ticket office. There is also a Nippon travel agency located just opposite the ticket gates in the station itself where transport enquiries and arrangements may also be made. It is situated on the Southern side of the Ohashi-gawa river which divides Matsue into North and South.

is an onsen hot spring located in Tamayu, Shimane Prefecture. The closest large city to the onsen is Matsue, which can be accessed by car, bus, or rail. Tamatsukuri is a noted sulfate spring with water temperatures between 50 °C and 70 °C . Tamatsukuri Onsen is an ancient and renowned hot spring (onsen in Japanese) where the gods of Japan are said to bathe once a year since the creation of the archipelagic islands of Japan according to the myth of the gods Izanagi and Izanami.

Lafcadio Hearn Memorial Museum
The Lafcadio Hearn Memorial Museum was established in Matsue, Shimane Prefecture, Japan in 1933. Hearn lived in Matsue from August 1890 to November 1891, and the museum was built next to his former residence, itself designated an Historic Site in 1940. The original museum was modelled on the Goethe-Nationalmuseum in Weimar, but it was rebuilt in a more traditional Japanese style in 1984. The museum attracts around 150,000 visitors a year.

Sada Jinja
Sada Jinja is a Shinto shrine in Matsue, Shimane Prefecture, Japan. The Taisha-zukuri north, central and south halls of 1807 are Important Cultural Properties. Sada Shin Noh, ritual purification dances performed annually on 24 and 25 September, have been designated an Important Intangible Folk Cultural Property. In 2011 Sada Shin Noh was inscribed on the UNESCO Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
Shimane Art Museum
The Shimane Art Museum opened in Matsue, Shimane Prefecture, Japan in 1999. Designed by Kiyonori Kikutake and with a total floor area of 12,500 sqm, it houses a collection of Japanese and Western art, including Momoyama folding screens and paintings by Corot, Sisley, Monet, and Gauguin.
