Hayashima, Okayama
Hayashima, Okayama is a town located in Tsukubo District, Okayama, Japan. As of June 1, 2010, the town has a population of 12,331 and a density of 1,606.44 persons per km². This is the highest population density of any municipality in Okayama Prefecture. The total area is 7.61 km², making it also the smallest municipality.
Battle of Mizushima
The naval battle of Mizushima took place on 17 November 1183. One of the most important bases of the Taira was Yashima, a small island off the coast of Shikoku. In November of 1183, Minamoto no Yoshinaka sent an army to cross the Inland Sea to Yashima, but they were caught by the Taira just offshore of Mizushima (水島), a small island of Bitchu Province, just off Honshū. The Taira tied their ships together, and placed planks across them to form a flat fighting surface.

Ohara Museum of Art
The Ohara Museum of Art in Kurashiki was the first collection of Western art to be permanently exhibited in Japan.
