KEKB (accelerator)
KEKB is the name of a particle accelerator used in the Belle experiment to study CP violation. It is called a B-factory for its copious production of B-mesons which provide a golden mode to study and measure the CP violation due to its property of decaying into other lighter mesons.
Belle experiment
The Belle experiment is a particle physics experiment conducted by the Belle Collaboration, an international collaboration of more than 400 physicists and engineers investigating CP-violation effects at the High Energy Accelerator Research Organisation in Tsukuba, Ibaraki Prefecture, Japan. The Belle detector, located at the collision point of the e−e+ asymmetric-energy collider, is a multilayer particle detector.
Science Museum of Map and Survey
The Science Museum of Map and Survey (地図と測量の科学館, Chizu to Sokuryō no Kagakukan) is a museum in Tsukuba, Ibaraki, Japan that is dedicated to mapping and surveying. The museum was the first of its kind in Japan when it was opened by the Geographical Survey Institute of Japan in June 1996.
Photon Factory
The Photon Factory (PF) is a synchrotron located at KEK, in Tsukuba, Japan, about fifty kilometres from Tokyo. There are two major facilities, the Photon Factory itself which is a 2.5GeV synchrotron with a beam current of around 350mA, and the PF-AR 'Advanced Ring for Pulsed X-Rays', which is a 6.5GeV machine running in a single-bunch mode with a beam current of around 35mA. Its macromolecular crystallography beamline is used substantially for Japan's structural genomics project.
