Kairaku-en
Kairaku-en is a Japanese garden located in Mito, Ibaraki, Japan. Along with Kenroku-en and Koraku-en, it is considered one of the Three Great Gardens of Japan. Kairakuen was built relatively recently in the year 1841 by the local lord Tokugawa Nariaki. Unlike Japan's other two great landscape gardens Kenrokuen and Kōrakuen, Kairakuen served not only for the enjoyment of the ruling lord, but was open to the public.
Kairakuen Station
Kairakuen Station is a railway station on the Jōban Line in Mito, Ibaraki, Japan, operated by the East Japan Railway Company (JR East). It is a "seasonal" station which serves the nearby Kairaku-en gardens, and is open only during the plum blossom season in February and March. Some Super Hitachi and Fresh Hitachi limited express services also stop at the station during this period.
Mito Municipal Botanical Park
The Mito Municipal Botanical Park is a botanical garden located at 504 Kobuki, Mito, Ibaraki, Japan. It is open daily except Mondays; an admission fee is charged. The garden contains a terrace, rock garden, lawn, water features, and greenhouses heated from burning waste in the adjoining garbage disposal center.

Tokiwa Jinja
is a Shinto shrine adjacent to the gardens of Kairakuen in Mito, Ibaraki, Japan. Founded in 1874, enshrined are Tokugawa Mitsukuni, second daimyō of the Mito Domain and compiler of Dai Nihonshi, and Tokugawa Nariaki, ninth lord and founder of the nearby Kōdōkan han school. In 1882 the shrine joined the ranks of the bekkaku kanpeisha or Imperial Shrines. The Tokiwa Jinja Reisai or annual festival is held on 12 May. A cannon and a drum have been designated as Cultural Properties by the city.

Ibaraki Prefectural Museum of History
The Ibaraki Prefectural Museum of History is a museum in Mito, Ibaraki, Japan. It is one of Japan's many museums which are supported by a prefecture. The museum opened in 1974. The collection focuses on the history of Ibaraki and the grounds also include a number of reconstructed Edo-period farm buildings.
