Dry Harbour Mountains
The Dry Harbour Mountains are a range of mountains in north central Jamaica. More accurately described as a plateau than a true mountain range, they form the eastern boundary of the Cockpit Country. This is also the mountain that people used to go and pray. The Dry Harbour Mountains starts from Discovery Bay, St. Ann and covers most settlements all the way to the eastern end of the Cockpit Country. It is a mountain which abounds in limestone and bauxite.
Armadale Juvenile Correctional Centre
Armadale Juvenile Correctional Centre was built to accommodate 40 girls. It is operated by the Department of Correctional Services for the Ministry of National Security. On 22 May 2009 a fire went through the facility, killing 5 girls and injuring 13 girls. The 45 surviving prisoners, who were aged 13 to 16, were temporarily placed in the Stony Hill Heart Academy in St. Andrew Parish and the Horizon Remand Centre in west Kingston.
